Solved Windows Experimental (Future Platforms 29500 Branch). What does your Insider Settings page show?

It's a genuine question. Around 2 months ago I suddenly stopped being offered new builds via Windows Update. Up until then it had been flawless with each new build being offered. I do still get other updates such as security and drivers etc but not any new builds. I believe there may be a hardware block possibly related to some real issues I encountered when Fast Start was enabled. PC is a Dell Mobile Precision Workstation.

I have been updating since this started by using either UUPDUMP or Microsoft ISO's. Following the initial failure to receive new builds I did a true clean install to see if that resolved anything but there was no change.

I'm curious what you all see on your Insider Settings. All my options are greyed out. I know there is no place to go from these builds as they have the highest build number of any but I would have thought it should show Dev at the least seeing as Winver reports 'Dev 29634.1000'

This is what I see for the latest 29634 build installed (updated to) today. Do you see the same or not?

I am not sure if that applies to Windows 11, but modifying a certain file in Windows Setup would change the maximum upgrade eligible version to include the current build, so one could trick Windows Setup and let him upgrade from an Insider's version to a general availability version. I don't remember details, but it can be done. This was usually for switching from a Preview version to the general availability version, I am not sure if it applies to Windows 11 Insider's versions.

You should turn on the Show Release Preview switch if your still on those builds.

Probably your current build is too high so you cannot switch to other Insider's channels or the general availability channel until some of these versions reaches or surpasses your version number. Probably near October when 26H2 will be released. Then you can decide if you want to continue at this Insider's channel, change to some other channel or quit the Insider's program and switch to general availability.

I think mission accomplished. I've used the group policy option and voila, I now see what I have long suspected I should be seeing. I'm puzzled why I've had to jump through hoops for this and why my seemingly correctly set up system suddenly dropped out of receiving updates. I'm guessing this ties the selection into the account details as much as anything else because even clean installs of these build do not have the options you all show.

Anyhow... I will be interested to see if I do receive the next update after this.

I don't know how accurate this might be but Copilot suggests that any of these may be a trigger. I did change a detail some while back on my account and have done other general housekeeping stuff there where I have had to go through security checks.

Just to round this one off I can report the latest build was picked up instantly via Windows Update. All these weeks trying to figure out why I suddenly stopped receiving builds and all along it seems it may have been caused by my housekeeping on my MS account triggering an inherited Group Policy.
