Windows Explorer Consuming Most Battery

I noticed today that my battery was dying fast and I wasn't using any applications. The Power and Battery detailed info shows that Windows Explorer is using at lease 67% of overall usage. So I suspect Win Ex is the issue.

My plan was to select the 3 dots ••• to open Manage background activity then select "Never" in the Let this app run in the background dropdown menu. But I'm not able to select the 3 dots. They're greyed out.

I appreciate any help.

The likely reason why the options are greyed-out is because Windows Explorer (explorer.exe) is the process that also handles the entire desktop user interface. This means that it has to be constantly running and disabling it result in a blank black screen with no gui. Basically your laptop would be unusable.

Welcome to th forum @New Guy If you would complete your system specs in your forum profile, we would know what hardware you are dealing with. As @DennyZenny said, explorer is ALWAYS running. You can't do anything about that.
