Windows Explorer in Windows 11

Hi guys,

Just recently switched to Win 11 Pro from Win 10 Pro and I have a problem.

Under windows 10 if I opened file explorer I could get it to always open in full screen mode (by selecting run maximized on the short cut), however, I can not get windows 11 explorer to do the same.

I have tried select run maximize, opening explorer the full screen it, then closing and reopening , but still to no change.

I have tried all the suggestion for doing so and have found plenty that I have got to work with Windows 8 & 10 but none worked with Windows 11.

Has anyone found one that does. If so please let me known how you did it.

Have you tried maximising the File Explorer window manually by clicking on the square at top right? W11 should remember your choice and then open maximised the next time you open it. At least, it does on my machine.

I am using the little freeware program ShellFolderFix
With that the properties of all windows, even of the different shortcuts of File Explorer that you put on the desktop or in a folder, are stored in a database. Properties means here: the place on the screen, the size of the window and the options (full screen or not) (and may be more).
If you close a window of File Explorer in the situation it is full screen, the next time you doubleclick its shortcut, it will be on full screen.

It is a rather old routine, but still very useful!
I always carefully set this option: "When navigating to a new location" to "Use window as is", which gives a better result.
My settings:





And I placed a shortcut to the program in the Startup folder of the Start Menu. Which in Windows 11 is situated here for all users:
C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Startup

That I will do, thanks for the explanation.

to keep explorer maximised when it re-opens. i maximise explorer then i hold the shift key then click the close button.
next time i open explorer its maximised.
