Solved "Windows Font Viewer" does not work!

Hi forum,

Font file formats (OTF, TTF) are un-associated (SS below):

By double click on "fontview.exe" the message below appears (SS):

Microsoft Defender is on, no third-party AV is installed on Windows, "FontExpert" app is installed (and I had no such a problem before that). I did restart "Windows Font Cache" Service but nothing!

I get the same on both Win11 Pro RTM and Win10 Pro RTM. The file does exist in C:\:Windows\System32 and other subfolders of C:\Windows.

The file exists in my system32 folder but is not executable. Same error as you.

It sounds like something may have messed up the default apps association for your .otf and .ttf file types. You could see if resetting them below may help.

In that case, see if the REG file below may help. It restores the default registry entries for otffile that is referenced by OTF files.

the font viewer does not open by itself running directly without having a font file, click on a font and you will see it working.

the same happens here if you try to open it directly without a font file.
