Solved Windows Insider Build 25201 - No Sound

Hello there. I just updated to the latest version of the Windows Insider that came out this past week - 22H2 version 25201.1000 - and I no longer get any sound coming out of my speakers. Is there perhaps some sort of workaround for it? I tried deleting and reinstalling my Realtek drivers, but no dice. Thank you.

Have you tried troubleshooting? System > Troubleshoot > Other Troubleshooters > Playing Audio > Run

Yes, it unfortunately didn't work. I also use FXSound, and it shows that there is sound happening on the PC - just not outputting, if that makes sense.

Update: I plugged in my headphones and they seem to work, so I guess it's just the Realtek digital output causing problems. =/

I had to manually update the Realtek audio driver to the MS HD audio driver to get my speakers working.

Hey there, I actually saw this post before making my thread and attempted it. Sadly, I probably had the same issue as DiPedro - it didn't solve the issue. I got the latest driver from my motherboard's site and even after manually updating it in the Device Manager, it didn't work. =(

Did you check to see if the sound output is going to your speakers? When the Realtek driver was working the sound output would automatically change when I turned my headphones on or off. Now I have to manually select the sound output.

I think we're going to be stuck with this problem for a while. IMHO, Realtek is in no hurry to fix the driver.

I was looking on Amazon and they have a selection of inexspensive USB sound cards if you want to get your speakers working. I might buy the Sabrient USB adapter to have as a backup. It's less than $9.00.

It honestly sounds like more a Windows Insider thing since Microsoft acknowledged the issue in their "Known Issues" section of the update, so I'll just wait and see. Thanks, though.

Being a driver problem it would be easy for MS to pass the buck to Realtek and Realtek to pass the buck back to MS. Time will tell.

Todays Insider Dev update killed my speakers again. I turned off driver updates and the Realtek driver still got installed. On another note; my speakers didn't work until I restarted my desktop. I got so ticked off I went ahead and ordered the Sabrent USB sound adapter. For $8.11, I figured it was worth it just in case the HD driver stops working to get my speakers working.

I don't have any faith in MS fixing a driver problem that should be fixed by Realtek. Realtek should be ashamed of themselves.

I got mine to work. Apparently the input on my soundbar was set incorrectly. I guess it may have changed some settings in the background I wasn't familiar with. I imagine that won't fix you problem, but hopefully the external sound card will help you.

The way I understand it is that some code in the newer builds is causing a conflict with the Realtek driver. MS may come up with a solution in future builds. If not it will be up to Realtek to solve the problem. MS does not have to guaranty that Windows will work on all hardware. It's the responsibility of the Hardware companies to make sure their hardware will work with the OS.

So far I can still get my speakers working if I use the HD Audio driver and not the Realtek Audio driver. It's a pain to have to manually load the HD Audio driver with every new build but at least it works.

... So a long long long time passed... The UDA driver still broken.
Today, I have fixed my Realtek Driver by downloading HDA driver in Station-Drivers and accept to use Realtek HD Audio Manager instead of Realtek Audio Console...
But... It is working fine!!! I love it !!!
