Windows Security wants to download an app?

Windows 11
Somewhere in the last several weeks I started getting the little yellow triangle on the Windows Security Icon in the task bar. When I hover the mouse over the Icon I get the message "Windows Security - Actions Recommended". If I click on the Windows Security Icon I get several options. However, no matter what option I click on I get a pop up box saying :You'll need a new app to open this windowsdefender link. Look for the app in the Microsoft Store". Microsoft Store says "No result found".

I have the same version of Windows 11 running on three other systems and do have this issue on any of them. All of the systems are running an AMD processor with various X470 and X570 motherboards. The system with the issue is running a 5600X on an MSI X570 MB. If that means anything.

Help appreciated.

I had that a while ago --- My problem was I hadn't allocated the recommended disk storage space for installing W11 (64GB min) -- even though I only wanted a relatively small Windows installation -- and I installed with dism /Apply-Image so the standard checks were bypassed.

So there's something wrong with your install / system -- possible remedies -- check the files with the windows utility -- I think it's something like scannow.exe (I've forgotten what it is - no doubt others can post) , or, restore previous version and upgrade or re-install.

Others have tried this too : check this thread :

Lokien,
Thanks for the link. Whatever it did - ignoring all the errors it generated while it was updating stuff - it worked. I think what triggered the issue in the first place was when I downloaded the latest version of Phoenix Miner and it installed something that Windows did not like. Once I ran the Powershell script I was able to access all the Windows Security features and see the problem file.
