Yeah, I agree. As far as NVMe's are concerned, I've always stuck to Samsung. And that 1TB 850 EVO mSATA SSD in the other thread I created was the oldest Samsung I owned, I guess for about 10-12 years now.
I also wasn't sure if SATA HDD enclosures would work on a SATA SSD but now I know. That's why I asked.
Everybody's mileage, varies. If you got screwed by them, I don't blame you. I've had good luck with them (WD) so far. In the last 15 years or so I've only had two fail. But then, I never use any RAID setup and use mostly USB powered externals for storage. I clone them so I'll have a set of two. I do use a couple of older MyBooks as well and they're cloned as well. I don't have a lot to store, anyway...
It's cold storage so they're not connected and running all the time, but every couple of months I fire them up to see how they're doing.
On a speculating note, if you had to buy HDD spinners today, which ones would you buy? For both RAID setups and as standalone, self-powered USBs?
