Android Windows Subsystem for Android arrives in Microsoft Store for Windows 11

You can now (sort of) download the Windows Subsystem for Android, assuming you meet the requirements and enjoy disappointment.

As you must know, the Windows Subsystem for Android will enable Windows 11’s most eagerly-awaited new feature, Android app compatibility, and the related Amazon Appstore for Android store-within-a-store. Microsoft announced this new feature at the Windows 11 reveal back in June, but it failed to mention that it wouldn’t even ship it this year, let alone when Windows 11 first ships to the public on October 5. Instead, it will arrive later in 2022, either as a standalone cumulative update or, less likely, as part of Windows 11 2.0 in October 2022.

You can manually put on the Windows release version. Yes, the Amazon AppStore will not be available, but you can put any other store and install apps from there. I will not give links, if anyone needs - on the Internet there is all the information on installation, etc.

P.S. WSA works fine on unsupported processors.

Where C:\path\to\wsa.msixbundle is the path to the file you just downloaded.

It may ask for you to add certain Windows features. And make sure you have Virtualization support enabled in your Motherboard BIOS/UEFI.

Worked a treat thanks! No idea how to use it yet but hey ho! Looks like ADB is needed to side-load stuff. But would be great to be able to control my Cosmo from the PC instead of my ancient tablet! LOL

There's also a work around for getting Google Play Store working in WSA. A few alternatives actually...look around in this forum and you should be able to find some links to guides.

It's unlikely to EVER have access to the Google store, the Windows Subsystem for Android will work on the Amazon Android app store

This is probably something that could be answered by a web search, but why is this? The Amazon store isn't the Android mainstream. Conflict between MS and Google?

Probably the same reason why no Google apps have ever been available in the MS store, Google just don't like playing ball with MS, despite the fact that MS have released many Android apps

Because Windows isn't Android and Android isn't Windows. Besides, MS Store does NOT have all the applications.

This subsystem is a great developer resource once they get it completed and optimized.
