Windows 11
This just appeared in my windows updates (not optional - main updates). Have paused updates for 7 days till I find out what it is. I did read a few months back of an HP update that caused a lot of issues. Anyone know what it might be? This is on Windows 10 by the way.

Cheers both. I really don’t like that HP have these updates in WU without telling you what they are! Ghot - mine was the same as the last post on that thread. It was about to install automatically when I switched off - the update icon was showing in the bottom bar so I checked to see what it was. Last time I did one of these it affected my fan which turned into a mad bumble bee suddenly. Still does that even now!

Yeah, it looked like they were optional when those forum posts started, but turned into non-optional fairly fast.

I get Dell updates from Microsoft in my Windows Update. They're all offered as optional updates though.

In fact, the last three Dell BIOS updates I installed on my Latitude 5410 were done through Windows Update.

When 11 was released on 5th October it was re-imaged back to 10 and was offered the upgrade in Windows Update on 20th October. Windows Update offered the 22H2 Feature Update on 20th September 2022. It got the 23H2 Feature Update on 4th November 2023 through Windows Update.
