Windows updates not working

I did a clean install of Windows 11 22621 on June29th. All ok. Windows Update gave me version 22621.169 on June 30th. Again, no problems

Today I tried to update to 22621.232. The update appears to download, the install goes 0% > 25% >69% then says Restart

Restarted PC, the update shows 88% then gives an error. SOMETHING DIDN'T GO AS PLANNED. NO NEED TO WORRY, UNDOING CHANGES

PC restarts, no update installed.

I restored the image backup made prior to trying the update. Switched to Beta channel, it downloaded 22622.290 - then gave an error 0x800f081f.

Thinking it may be the .NET issue like before, I tried adding the feature. This failed too.

Stuck!

Any ideas?

Try Windows update troubleshooter

Run the System File Checker (SFC) Scan

Windows command prompt (as admin) run

sfc /scannow

Done that, no problems found

OK I ran this, it did do a few fixes. Checking for updates it offered me KB5015818 22621.232 even though I did a repair install using UUP Dump ISO of this build. It didn't really install as the system is up-to-date anyway, but Reliability monitor is now showing successfully installed.

Defender updated through Windows Update too.
Let's see what happens next time there's a cumulative update!

Just check Windows update history see if it was successfully updated. Would run sfc /scannow it can't hurt.
