Windows Updates

Hi Chaps,

Hope somebody can help, I've had a look through and searched, but, could not find a topic that helped with my issue?
I have been notified that an up date is available for my Dev build, but, when I use the update feature , nothing shows as available?

Can anybody help please?

Hey Rob, What version of windows 11 are you on just now? Im assumung its a dev build, If you type in winver in search or cmd itll let ya know what one youre on.
How To Run Windows Update From Command Line If it Isn't the latest one that you're on and its saying theres an update but then there isn't. try that link and use some of the cmds through powershell to bypass the Windows UI side of things and see if that helps any.

Thanks for your reply - I'm on 22504.1000.
Will try what you said from Command line and see if it updates

No problem at all! So i believe the latest one is 22509, Hopefully by doing it through powershell it'll start the actions as normal but without the need to go through windows update, Might just be conflicting itself with the two different lots of info its given.

Hmm, Did you try it through Command Prompt or Powershell?

I've tried running these through Command Prompt( Albeit im fully updated so im not sure if that would affect the result)

Open the Run dialog (Windows key + R) or open Windows Search and run the following command:

control update
Or:
ms-settings:windowsupdate

I believe to do it through Powershell youll need the third party windows module which can be found Here or infact copy and paste this Install-Module -Name PSWindowsUpdate and then it might be case of just following the instructions on the link above for powershell, My bad i forgot about the module you'd need.

Maybe nothing, I just wondered if you had send optional diagnostical data enabled still in Settings>Privacy and Security>Diagnostics and Feedback

I've had a look there and i have sending optional diagnostic data turned on since the beginning i believe, Should i turn that off anyway?

It's your choice, and there's almost nothing to fear from letting your PC "call home" all the time, but I just don't want my PCs reporting to MS around the clock about everything I do (and no, I don't do anything embarrassing -- on my PCs at least :eek:

), so I have my settings on all four of the currently active machines (two 11 Pros and two 10 Pros) this way:

@Devlin1888 No that has to be on to be an insider, I heard a report that it had been turned off by somebody on their machine which stopped insider updates. I turned mine off when I left the insider program

If you have been and insider and left the program and do not want to send anything to MS you can also set feedback frequency to never. You can still use the feedback hub to send anything you wish

Yes, PC is only a couple of years old and checked out regards requirements

Sorry, this one is beyond me. unless it refers to a dev /beta build different to your insider settings., anyway it should check for updates when you boot up snd it's easy to see if you have the latest version. Good point from @davewin11 it may help others
