I just purchased a new Samsung 256GB USB-C Flash Drive (MUF-256DA/APC). I ran a performance benchmark with Samsung Magician and Crystal Dick Mark and it was running perfectly.
However, as the default file system was FAT32, I wanted to reformat as exFAT for storing movies. As a result i followed this process:
I then tried right clicking on the drive, but when i click start I get a pop up saying "windows was unable to complete the format".
If I right click the drive and look at properties in File system: it blank.
If i eject the usb and then reinsert it, i get a popup saying "you need to format the disk in drive E: before you can use it", but when i click to format i get the same answer pop up saying "windows was unable to complete the format".
Disk Management says the disk is Unallocated.
Have i broken the usb, i probably should have just reformatted by right clicking the drive instead of going through Disk Management. Is there something else i can do to format the usb?

- Locate and select the drive to be partitioned and formatted.
- Right-click the bar.
- Click Delete Volume.
- Right-click the Unallocated area.
- Click New Simple Volume.
