Solved windows11.0-kb5068861 will not install

That solves it.

For me that was on 19.11.2025, so why it is late for you I don't know, maybe diagnostics sent to MS has delayed it for some reason.
I would give it at least another month.
It produces a Windows.old folder of around 40 GB so make sure you have plenty of free drive space. Plenty of percent counters and multiple restarts but in the end all is good.

W11 already occupies way more SSD storage and resources than my Linux distro (108GB), so that'll put me right on the brink of a full C:\ partition (311GB), and that's with no Data stored on the C:\ partition. Thank goodness, all Data is on a separate D:\ partition (200GB) that is shared with Linux.

Absolutely.
Unrecoverable boot corruption can always be fixed with a Linux install.
I have recovered a few drives that way.

A live Linux session on a Ventoy USB stick can cure a multitude evils.

I think that just might be the proper strategy, and thankfully W11 is not my primary OS, so I have the time to wait for a fix!

I'm also unable to install this update on my main machine. Since the update fails, it keeps downloading everything again when Windows checks for new updates. So I decided to use wushowhide.diagcab to hide it. It seems like a lot of people are having this error, but it's quite random. I even have a virtual machine that I use exactly the same way, with the same type of license, performing the same updates, and on that one, the installation worked on the first try.

UPDATE:
Just logged back into Windows and the KB5068861 installed without a hitch.
Something must have changed at Microsoft for this update to install, between Sunday and today, because I've been logged in on Linux since Sunday evening.
Marking as solved.

I went to download & install the usual Microsoft Defender Antivirus KB2267602, and Windows Malicious Software Removal Tool x64 - v5.138 (KB890830), and KB5068861.

The first 2 installed OK, but KB5068861did not install. I did not get an error code but got this instead.

“2025-11 Security Update (KB5068861) (26200.7171) Retry
We didn't find any updates that are published for your edition at this time. We'll try again when the next scheduled update is published.”

I Retried several times but keep getting the same message.

If they didn’t find any updates does that mean KB5068861does not apply to my version of Windows?
