winload.efi 0xc0000098 safe mode

Hello

when i want to go into safe mode it shows this after i restart:

windows\system32\winload.efi missing or contains errors

Code: 0xc0000098

i have secure boot disabled...

but i never had this issue before?

but normal boot works fine after i hit ALT + F4 when i get this message?! ...

how to fix it to get into safe mode again?

Windows 11 24H2 with latest updates

it seems that update KB5055627 changed the winload.efi on 03.05.2025 ... (the date shows created/changed on 03.05. in explorer)

new update KB5058411 created again a new winload.efi on 13.05. ... (the date shows created/changed on 13.05. in explorer)

but same problem ... why is this only when i reboot into safe mode?

normal boot works fine...

i dont understand why this only happens when i want to go info safe mode ... normally that happens at every boot to others what i have found in the net... then you have to do a startup repair with windows usb

sfc /scannow shows no errors

i also did DISM restorehealth

Have you tried Startup Repair tool?

Enter the following command line: chkdsk c: /f. Then, errors will be automatically fixed if they are detected.

Try following command from recovery mode:

Code: 
bcdboot c:\Windows /s Z: /f ALL

Replace Z: with EFI partitioned assigned letter.

Reboot your device and check if the a boot problem with winload.efi file is fixed.

chkdsk c: /f ... still the same ...

i can't go into recovery mode ... when i hit shift and restart i will get the winload.efi error like i wrote before ...

You need to boot your computer in recovery mode using Windows 11 bootable installation media.

ok i did startup recovery tool from usb bootable

but it showed "can't be repaired "

so i guess i have to make a new install of 24H2 ?

this windows 11 from 2023 seems currupted after so many updates ...

ok and how can i fix that easily? :-)

so strange that this only happens when i want to start the advanced startup options (safe mode and so on) ... (shift and restart) ...

normal boot works fine (normal start, restarting and also after i get this message)

is safe mode and advanced startup on a different partition?

i just wanted to delete the grafix drivers with DDU to update the drivers and now this rubbish ... :)

annoying ...

You have not given us a screenshot of disk management or told us if you have multiple disks installed, so I'm going out on a limb here with a suspicion. I believe it's because your BCD us written to the wrong disk/partition and possibly that disk has failed or become corrupted..

I have only one 990 pro installed with 2TB ... 1 Systempartition only ... i will post the bcdedit asap ... but i am not at home over the weekend so on sunday i guess ... thanks for your help so far

To rebuild the Boot Configuration Data (BCD), you need to use the Windows Recovery Environment and the bootrec tool. Here's how:
If you can not enter recovery environment by holding down the shift key while booting the device, you will need to use Windows installation media.

Boot your computer from the Windows install image and press Shift + F10 on the language selection screen. You will see a command prompt.

Try to repair the BCD file automatically using this command: bootrec /RebuildBCD

Reboot your computer and check if Windows boots
