Winre as part of C drive

I recently deleted the WinRe partition in a Hyper-V virtual hard drive but forgot Macrium Reflect WinRE version needs it. I had expanded C drive fill all (logical) space in VHD so only 3 partitions

EFI, MSR, C Drive.

So I did a repair upgrade and WinRE was re-enabled but the WinRE was now under the hidden Recovery Folder.

For a complicated issue relating to way VHDXs do not free up space when files are deleted without faffing around with compact option in Hyper-V, it actually suits me to have it set up this way i.e. recovery folder in C drive rather than a separate partition.


Is there an easy way to do this?

Maybe if you Remove MR and reboot , then re-install MR it may put it back. This or unhide it and use somthing like EASUS DIsk Partition to move it.?

Normally,
1. reagentc /disable
2. Delete the recovery partition
3. reagentc /enable

will do the trick.

For trial and error steps with the new post repair upgrade WinRE:

Open administrative command prompt and type or copy and paste:

reagentc /info
reagentc /disable
reagentc /info

Delete the post repair upgrade WinRE partition.

Then test the Marcirum Reflect WinRE version to see whether it will work.

NavyLCDR was a faster responder.

Indicate whether Macrium works without or only when Windows RE is enabled.

Reflect can be used in WinPE mode without a WinRe partition but I prefer WinRe as it allowss backups over wifi.

I kind of worked this out after I posted this once I added a drive letter to the WinRe partition and then viewed contents from Reflect in WinPE mode (Even Reflect uses term WimPe when they really mean WinRe mode).

The trick is step 1 I discovered i.e. if you delete it whilst enabled, it is messier as you have to point reagentc back to the c drive first.

As an aside, on one of my vhds, the winre recovery folder was missing on C drive (no idea why).

Edit: I just manually copied folder from winRe partition using Reflect PEexplorer, then followed @NavyLCDR instructions, and all worked fine.
