Would Like Helpful Opinion The The Following Laptops

Having said that, if you went for the Intel Arc graphics option it would save you $200 which would pay for the 2tb drive :-)

Are you planning to do any gaming? If not then I think the Arc graphics would be fine. You'd also have less issues with nvidia driver upgrades in future!
I don't understand what you mean by "You'd also have less issues with nvidia driver upgrades in future",??? are their problems with Nvidia driver updates, auto updates???

No there shouldn't be - I'm probably being historic there, with much older laptops with nvidia but I'm sure it'll be supported for a long time :-) I didn't notice the arc graphics version had onboard memory, so yes I'd go with the option you chose.

But your point was a good one for going with Arc to save money. Hey so the RAM link you provided above, that would be the compatible one for this machine if and when i want to upgrade the ram?

If you are not doing high-end gaming, 3D rendering, and professional video editing. you are good with 16GB of RAM. Don't overthink. Just get what you need.

That's not right. If it is defective, it is not your fault. You don't have to pay for anything. You got ripped.
Personally, I only purchase these kind of stuffs on online stores with physical stores in case I need to return them. Instead of driving to Fedex or Purolator, I'll drive straight to the store. Instant full refund. Even if it's not defective, you'll get a full refund. You always have to protect your own interest.
You have advantages over me. I'm disabled and even if I could drive, the nearest store is too far away.

It’s a balance isn’t it - either go for saving money or pay a bit more to have upgrade ability if you need or want it. As mentioned earlier - 16gb is plenty now but in three or four years time you might wish you had a little more. I tend to keep laptops a long time (if I don’t break them lol) and like to know they’re upgradeable.

So yes it’s a point that nvidia graphics have their own drivers but I’m sure you’ll be fine for a long time. It would be nice having nvidia graphics as well.

Yes I believe that’s the correct ram I linked. I just put dell Inspiron 16 plus in the search box but didn’t check the exact model number.

There are also quite a lot of different 2tb m2 drives - not just the Samsung one I linked - some can cost less. That can be another decision in itself but any of them would do a good job 😊

Thanks @TraderGary do you mean it you think the specs, laptop look pretty good or are you just trying to shut me up;-):p
My first computer was the original IBM PC in 1981. I've had many dozens of computers over the years. I'm a bit experienced with computers and I think it's a good configuration backed by a good company.

@Hazel123 @TraderGary @badrobot I should probably stop while im ahead but here is another option/question, do you know if laptops like this tend to run hotter, better, same or worse as the laptop 16 plus that you all have been helping me with? Is the Inspiron 16 Plus still a better choice then the one linked below or is the other one seem better, to you. THe G15's processer, i believe is not as good as the Inspirons, but not sure.

It depends on the task that you are doing. This G15 is a gaming laptop. It only gets hotter if you are doing hardcore gaming. But running regular tasks, it will perform the same as the Dell. Think about what you are gonna use it for. Gaming laptops are bulkier mainly because it houses powerful hardware and needs space for cooling.

 not square one, just between the G15 and the inspiron plus. which do you think has the better build in general not for gaming. looking at longevity... I believe my current laptop is a gaming laptop. Occasionally the fans flare up/make noise but not often.

I quite like chunky laptops personally :-) The specs seem the same otherwise - processor, ram, drive and graphics. I'd go with the G15 gaming laptop.

I quite like chunky laptops personally :-) The specs seem the same otherwise - processor, ram, drive and graphics.
Really you think the specs look the same? Did you look at the 1st link? the processors are different..

It's Core i7 instead of ultra 7 but ..... don't think there'd be much difference to be honest. I'd go with the gaming laptop :-)

I

Here are some points I noticed. I'm not a laptop user myself but I've worked on enough of them to know if it was my only system anything less than a 15 inch screen wouldn't cut the mustard for me. Entirely too small.(unless I planned to use an external monitor.)

Note: I can only relate my opinion as to if it was me buying a laptop.

Big drawback on both those laptops with the options that are selected is not enough ram.
16 gb ram is barely enough for browsing and email. It certainly would not be enough for doing much in Photoshop. 32 gb ram is the sweet spot in today's computing IMO so if you go with either one of those, choose the 32gb ram option which will raise its price substantially as well as changing the discrete graphics and size of system drive. DO NOT choose on-board ram. Onboard ram is soldered to the motherboard and can open up a can of worms on down the road.
For example, here is a screenshot of changing the 16 inch laptop to 32 gb ram. It raises price to $1699

Something else that would be important to me is lack of type A usb ports in both those laptops. The 16 inch has only 2 usb-A, but according to the listed specs on the 14 inch, it has no usb-A ports a all, only usb C ports.(no usb-A is a big drawback) However, both do have thunderbolt so you will probably end up having to use a thunderbolt dock on either one. I know I would have to with all the usb devices I use.
I agree with you 100%. As a Dell Precision laptop user, I couldn't agree more.
I have the maximum of 64GB of Ram in my laptop (NOT SOLDERED), a 15" 4K screen (wouldn't dare go smaller -I use Photoshop a lot), 2TB NVMe, 2TB SATA).

It's not one of these 4K UHD+ - Laptop Computers | Dell USA but they sure do look nice.
www.dell.com/en-us/shop/dell-laptops/scr/laptops/appref=4k-uhd-plus-screen-resolution

When I bought mine, it initially had 1TB NVMe and a regular screen. I bought a 4K replacement and swapped it out (so glad). As for deals on laptops, I recommend ebay, but that's me. Much like a new car, the second it drives off the lot it's used and the price goes down. The same is true with laptops.

As for Windows 11 and driver issues, I've had zero issues with either. Super smooth, no problems.

The kind of issues I've had on some of the newer thinner laptops: overheating, usbc ports easily damaged, lack of ports. I think one that's built to prevent overheating and looks a solid hard plastic - just seems a lot more long lasting.
