Can someone explain why .xpt files appear to be impossible to edit? My CAM software uses .xpt files as templates for the CNC setup sheets. I want to make some changes but cannot edit these files. I have googled editors for this format but not found something that does what I want. If anyone can lead me to an editor that allows me to open, edit and save .xpt files that would be much appreciated. Or an alternative...

I can't upload the .xpt file I have. NDAs...

TIA

Sometimes have to compress files into .zip for uploading to a forum. But, I have seen programs in the past that didn't allow editing their included template files. If a file does open it may be necessary to save it as a different name then maybe that one can be opened and edited.

I don't think @bigseb wants to upload anything.
He's writing about NDAs, which are Non-Disclosed-Agreements, which means, as far I understand, the files are confidential.

This. Tbh the files are nothing special, I'm just allowed to upload them here. Being able to edit them would help optimize my workflow though, hence the query as to how.

Have you asked your vendor if .xpt files are in a proprietary format, and that's why there's no public tools for it?

You're all confusing SAS software's data export format with this specific app, which is industrial CAD/CAM and milling. Don't be fooled by the same file extension.

Yup. They weren't to clued up about it either. It's for a 3rd party plug-in for MCAM called X+.

.XPT files are files that are used by the FireFox browser.

you can convert them online to different formats.

If the files that have to be converted are that confidential that he writes about them as Non Disclosed Documents, I hardly can imagine OP would concider sending them to any 'Convert Guru' at all.

Hopefully after 1.2 Year he will have found some solution for the problem! ;-)

the subject was brought up in the VIP forum to give help and assistance to older unresolved posts.
hence my reply to this post at this time.
Yeah but that was also over a year ago. Also, OP said the files were related to a Mastercam plugin, so the Firefox thing is way off.
