I'm streamlining my VMs, as I'm up to 8, for now, and will need several more. So, I'm also evaluating multi-VM management systems.
I was using the Remote Desktop and Remote Desktop Classic apps from the Microsoft Store, but this last go around when I made new VMs, RD refused to connect to them - and though RD Classic is 'supposedly' in maintenance mode (according to the Store page), it worked - right up until I installed Windows 11 22H2.
Now, neither is working. I know I can use the built in RD program, but it is ... clunky. And, since I'm using the same credentials and passwords across them all, I'd rather use a utilitarian program that allows for things like credential managing, easy setup for multiple VMs, etc.
Thus far, I've found a few, but I've used RoyalTS (free version for now), and I seem to like it, once I got it all figured out. I've also considered SysInternals' RDC Manager, Devolution, and a couple of others.
Long term goal here is to find an app I like that is easy to use, even easier to set up for future VMs, and reasonably priced (if not free). I will be building a new rig for myself within a year, and this rig will become a permanent server for VMs that I'll stash in my basement, so naturally, remote access to VMs is something that I need to start planning for.
What about all the others in here? What's your favorite program to use for managing multiple VMs? Even if it is the built in Windows RD app, I'd like to hear why you use it.
Thanks!
