One would think there is a way to remove one file from the Vulnerable Driver Blocklist or mark it as OK?

I clicked on Learn More but there was nothing in there I could find.

"asio.sys is a virtual driver associated with ASUS PC Probe, a utility software used for hardware device management on ASUS computers. It's often pre-installed on ASUS systems. This driver is not essential for the system's overall functionality, so if you encounter issues with it, you can usually ignore them without any significant impact on your PC's performance."

My suggestion: Backup your OS drive just to be 100% sure (I don't take what CoPilot says as gospel), then dump asio.sys.

Thanks, that file is dated 2015 so I have no idea where it came from or how WOW or PROBE ended up on my PC.

Will have to investigate, but if deleting the main problem file, for now I am happy to leave everything alone.

Just finishing up a search. "Everything" found one AsIO.sys

Removed the file found using "Everything"
used Revo to trace ASUS software and deleted everything ASUS related
Rebooted, system seems fine, no Vulnerable Driver Blocklist popup.

I had a look, there is an ASUS related driver mentioned but not the offending file.
I am starting to think that GTAV installed this stuff. I can't think of what else may have. I also have no idea why it would.

The only thing ASUS on my PC is my motherboard. Maybe I installed a chipset? I can't remember.

There may or may not have been an ASUS driver installed with 23H2. I can’t recall.

Will see what happens when I install 24H2 independently. Just waiting to see what happens on Patch Tuesday.

Yes. I have since deleted the old install files using storage manager in Windows settings.
The folder and contents are gone.

So glad you got this sorted. This was an interesting topic. I have never run into that message before, at least now I am aware of this.

On a related note, has anyone noticed that Windows insists on installing drivers after a clean install from Windows update even if you have Windows updates paused?

It forces me to always make sure that I have networking disabled until after I install the proper drivers for a system.

Funny you should mention this.
Before doing an in-place I did a fresh install. Drivers were being downloaded in Windows update along side a needed update for 24H2.
And funny again, one of the drivers was an ASUS driver.

I had never seen drivers of the type being downloaded in Windows Update before.
And NO they weren't a choice, they were auto installs.

I tend to do that also, but as I was interested in what happens on a fresh install of 24H2, I didn't this time.
