about waking from sleep(s3) problem

Hello
My 24h2 has no problem about sleep mode.But clean 25h2 install has a problem. my pc sleeps with no problem but not waking up from sleep(s3) .when I try to wake up my pc,it opens like no problem but it doesn't open my screen and not give power usb ports like my keyboard lights don't open(my keyboard properties).

I tried different things
Driver update
power menu:
sleep mixed mode disable
usb sleep enabled
waking timer enabled



how to solve this problem? clean install 24h2?

Install GPU driver to see it helps.

I installed latest gpu driver.but the problem continues

1 I agree that it was worth re-installing the display driver as there's no diagnostic test to see if it has become corrupted.
- If the graphics card was part of the computer when you bought it then the computer maker should be able to provide you with a driver download.
- Otherwise, download the driver from the card maker.
While you are at it, it can also be worth stopping WU from including hardware drivers. WU has started behaving very oddly and many users have reported it causing problems. You'll then need to get updated drivers yourself in future but at least you can be confident that WU is not going to overwrite what you've done.

2 I assume that you have S3 Sleep available. The response to the command PowerCfg -a will tell you.
If this computer originally had S0 Modern standby [aka S0 Low power idle] then it might always have had some incompatibility with S3 Sleep that has only begun to manifest itself with the update to 25H2.

3 I think it would also be worth finding out if the computer is entering S3 Sleep at all or is just crashing straightaway.
Event viewer records can tell you this. You can make using it easier by setting up a Custom view for these particular events. I've set up a Custom view for this and you can import it using the guide in

Read from the para beginning You can see records of transitions between power states in Event viewer if you want.

FWIW, I had this very problem for months with the Nvidia driver and the RTX4060 GPU. I was back to running with the Intel on-board graphics for about three months, and a couple weeks ago loaded the latest Nvidia driver and switched back to my GPU. So far, it hasn't reoccurred, so maybe they finally fixed whatever was wrong with the GPU drivers.

I've noticed that both Gaming and Studio versions of NVIDIA drivers deteriorate with use. The more I use any specific PC with an NVIDIA GPU, the more likely it is to develop issues. On my dual-monitor desktop rig, that means (for example) that the right-hand monitor will start blinking or periodically blacking out. I used to wonder if the driver "knew" a new version was out, because this often happened at around the same time a new one got released. But recently, having switched to Studio drivers (which don't update as often as Gaming ones) I realized that reinstalling the same driver takes care of such issues as nicely as installing a new one.

I had an issue with S0 modern standby sleep at one time when I upgraded the NVIDIA driver using the NVIDIA app. The PC wouldn't wake the screen from sleep and would then BSOD. Got scolded by Dell Support since it was a laptop and laptop graphics hardware tends to be tweaked and tested for manufacturer graphics drivers. No more issues after sticking with the Dell NIVDIA drivers although they are always outdated. Don't know if your machine is a laptop or not but just food for thought.

True that @FrancoDT. In my case, it's 3070 Ti running on an Asrock B550 mobo with AMD 5800X CPU. So I get in there and mess with it directly thru the NVIDIA app. But for the OP and other readers, it's good to check the OEM downloads for customized GPU drivers before turning to generic drivers from the GPU maker. Same principle is true for NVIDIA, AMD and Intel graphics drivers, BTW.

my mobo is old. So I disabled modern standby(s0). but I don't know how to enable legacy s3 in windows 11 25h2

Some people have done so without any problems.
There's probably no telling if it is related to your current issues other than enabling it again to see what happens.
And do consider my other suggestions above.

If disabling S0 Modern standby did not result in S3 Sleep being enabled automatically then I do not believe that you can ever enable S3 Sleep.
Your computer maker's support group and/or user forums might have something useful to say on the matter.

Why did you disable it?

When I tested several computers against each other a couple of years ago, I found that S0 Modern standby used as little power as a comparable computer did in S3 Sleep.

I also discovered that the way to allow scripts to run during S0 Modern standby was to set the Power options entry Sleep after to Never.
This stops S0 Modern standby from entering a later phase that does not allow scripts to run. It is this aspect that can lead to different results for the first few minutes in S0 Modern standby and so confuse the issue.

WOW, talk about timely! Right after I wake up from sleep, maybe up to around 5 minutes, my main monitor blanks out for a couple seconds. When I was running on the Intel drivers with the on-board video, that never happened. With all the hype around Nvidia as a "great" graphics company, I'm totally unimpressed with their software! I never had nearly the amount of issues when I had an AMD GPU, I'm seriously considering going back to that brand!

please check if fast start-up is enabled then disabling 'fast start-up'
control panel > power options

in the left side 'change what the power buttons do'

in this window
towards the bottom 'shut-down settings'

fast start-up is listed there
disable fast start-up and then try your sleep mode.
