OS
Windows 11
Previously when on windows 10 I created a Hyper V VM with a window install setup, everything was working fine.

I then updated my windows to the preview version of Windows 11, the Windows 10 VM was still working fine with no issues.

I've now done a fresh install of the release version of windows 11 and tried importing the windows 10 VM as usual, however, this time it's getting stuck in an auto repair loop and I can't get it working.

anyone else had similar and know a possible solution to this?

Cheers

Hi there

@agentwalker

I believe you can use the ViBOOT feature in Macrium to boot a HYPER-V VM. If you run the Macrium program from the W11 HOST machine (enable HYPER-V of course) and then try with Viboot to see if the W10 VM comes up. If it does you are in business as you can save it and then boot it "normally" in HYPER-V. I assume you still have the VDMK Virtual machine image you created on W10.

Macrium Free is good enough for this. When installing ensure you enable the Viboot option.

no luck with Macrium, managed to try and create a bootable iso from it and attempt to correct the boot section and that failed with a message around 'bcd file not found'

Verify you can see the actual vhd / vhdx itself, ad that it is not a 0 byte length file.
