Solved After 30 minutes or so of being idle, Mouse/Keyboard will not wake computer.

Hi.

In my power settings the sleep function is turned off and in Device Manager the Bluetooth keyboard and mouse are set to wake computer. In the Control Panel, here is a screen shot of the power and sleep buttons. The screen is set to turn off after 20 minutes and “my device” is set to never sleep. The Intel Wi-Fi E6 driver has been updated.







Here’s the issue. After about 30 minutes of being idle the only way to “wake” the computer is to shut it down by pressing the power button for at least 10 seconds and then pressing it again to boot the computer. I can’t figure this one out and would appreciate any comments or suggestions you may have. Thanks in advance for interest. Coopfab.

Question...do you have the mouse/keyboard connected through a usb hub or are they both connected directly to usb ports? I checked the specs on your PC. It shows you have 2x usb 2.0 ports in the rear of the PC. Those 2.0 ports should be used for mouse and keyboard rather than usb 3 ports. See if that makes a difference. Also make sure you are running the latest uefi bios version.

I have my power options set as follows. Try it to see if sleep works right for you.

choose what power buttons do-
when I press power button=shutdown
when I press slrrp button=sleep

turn off display=10 min
put computer to sleep=15 minutes

I also have fast startup turned off.

What does this command show is wake enabled?

powercfg -devicequery wake_armed

Sorry, forgot to mention that the keyboard and mouse are bluetooth. I have also tried the power power as suggested, doesn't help.

Results of command:

Do you have a Bluetooth dongle plugged into a USB socket? In Device Manager, look for the Bluetooth or USB device properties and see if it can be turned off by power management.

Make sure you have the latest BIOS/drivers, especially chipset related, they tend to deal with power issues.

Are you using any 3rd Party Antivirus / Malware software?
I had an issue last year with Webroot causing similar issues with my keyboard, an update from Webroot fixed the issue.
With regard to chipset drivers I would use the Manufacturers Chipset Drivers than Drivers downloaded via Windows Update.

Thanks much for all your suggestions. Turns out that the cause of my issue was a faulty DisplayPort cable. I changed to an HDMI and presto, all better. Again, thanks very much for your time and interest.
