AMD driver versions

When AMD updates their Chipset drivers there are multiple download options. Win7, Win10, Win11, etc. Most of the time the Win10 driver shows the same revision number as Win11. Does that mean they are interchangeable or do you need to install the specific revision for Win10 or Win11?

Win 10 and 11 share some but not all.
If the board is AMD then you should have their
software installed:

I've always wondered about this but last night something happened that made me look at it again. My old daily driver is a Win10 PC that has been relegated to a safe keeping status. I had been planning on doing a clean install of Win11 in the future. But last night I decided to just let it update to Win11. The update went fine however when it was done I wondered if I needed to install the latest AMD Chipset drivers to the Win11 version. It's an X470 motherboard.
So I attempted to install the latest Win11 version, it was already using the latest Win10 version. But the install had an error I had never seen before. It would pop up a graphic with a file location error then a bunch of install /switches. I tried multiple times even using Admin mode. So scratching my head why the installer is not working correctly or if even needed.

My normal install process for AMD systems is install the OS then next install the latest AMD chipset drivers. I've never used the AMD auto-detect software and chose to manually download/install the latest drivers. I do allow Adrenalin drivers to auto-update but that is baked into the GPU driver itself.

The chipset driver is the same for both w10 and 11.
Is the PC running OK now?

For AMD chipset drivers Win 10 and Win 11 are the same.
Download them manually.

And whenever there's a new chipset driver, it will be posted here...

That software is updated every month. I still get emails when a new one is available for install
even though I haven't used my AMD notebook in about a year.
Just so you know, chipset drivers are updated only when really needed. If something changes
then, it might be a plus to do it but, as long as your PC is working fine, why try to fix what ain't broke.
The auto detect software usually works well and will tell you if drivers are needed.
