I can't get Macrium Reflect to restore my backup files. The rescue media won't successfully boot my ARM Surface Laptop. I read somewhere that AOMEI Backupper has an ARM version, but there's nothing about it on the website. Anyone know if/when there might be one? Thanks, Patrick

From a Google enquiry:

Yes, AOMEI officially supports Windows ARM64 systems with their backup software. The AOMEI Backupper download page explicitly lists a "Download for Windows ARM64" option for their software. This ensures compatibility with modern ARM-based laptops and devices running Windows 11 ARM.

Hasleo Backup free works on ARM as well. Are you using Macrium Reflect 8.1 or X cause X is ARM compatible while 8.1 is not. I currently have Macrium X and Hasleo Free on my Surface Laptop 7.

ARM Backupper is not on the AOMEI website. The link above is for the ARM version of Partition Manager.

I never tried AOMEI Backupper but I like the clean simple intuitive interface of Hasleo backup. I just need basic backup functions that I can schedule so I'll probably just stick with Hasleo when my X subscription expires.

I can't get Macrium Reflect to restore my backup files. The rescue media won't successfully boot my ARM Surface Laptop. I read somewhere that AOMEI Backupper has an ARM version,
No other imaging app can open a Macrium image or restore files from that image as it is in a proprietary file format. To get to your files, you will have to install Macrium on a computer with an x64 processor. Mount the image, and copy your files to an external drive. You can then copy the files from that drive onto your ARM device.

I've been using Macrium on my ARM PC to create the back ups. It works fine. Just can't restore. The rescue boot USB won't boot, not will the BIOS version

OK folks - I have Reflect X. It makes backups. I made the rescue media on the same (ARM) PC. Appreciate the comments. Maybe read more thoroughly?

My UEFI update script will work on ARM platforms to replace the boot file. I don't own a Surface or Snapdragon PC, but the script handles those instances (bootaa64.efi instead of bootx64.efi).

Of course, ARM PC's need a boot drive with native ARM code. While Windows ARM can run Intel code, it's done thru emulation. And that emulation layer doesn't exist on a simple USB boot device (not a full Windows). So yeah, gotta find the ARM version of Macrium to build the right boot drive...

I made the rescue media on the same (ARM) PC........Maybe read more thoroughly?
I already had the window to your thread open, was researching and beginning to respond before you told us that so I did not see it until after my answer posted.
Thank you for providing that information, but no thanks to your condescending attitude.
Hope you can work it out.

I've talked to Macrium support at length and they say they've tested on my ARM Surface model and suggest that there's a bios issue. However, this all started because I had created a rescue USB awhile ago (before some updates to Reflect X) which had booted into the rescue environment but could not see the external drive where the backups are stored. Their suggestion was to make a new USB with the latest version, which I did. But now neither the new USB or the BIOS version will boot at all.
