Solved Auslogics Disk Defragmenter

I agree with cereberus.

Solve your problem by using the built-in utility instead.
It's now called the Optimiser but it's just the re-labelled Disk defragmenter.
C:\Windows\System32\dfrgui.exe

cereberus, I like to see what's being done. Plus it can do other dfrag options that windows cant do.

Anyway I've got it fixed, Auslogics works good now, both the full version and the portable version.

A portable app is one that won't make any changes to your registry. It won't be installed in the typical sense and won't show up anywhere in the system, such as the context menu, or other places.

You can launch the file from anywhere you want (including external disk) and perform the function it is intended to do.

That said, I personally stay away from Auslogics products because they never come clean on Virustotal.com. And with how Windows has evolved over the years, many of the previously useful tools are just completely unnecessary today, and often cause more problems than they solve.

Me, too, on my mechanical drives. FYI for anyone who doesn't know already. NEVER DEFRAG A SSD.

Yes indeed Mechanical drives only.

It recognizes SSDs and wouldn't defrag but rather Optimize those. But I use the manufacturers software for that and have the SSDs unchecked. I defrag and Optimize my HDD after I make my weekly backups. I also run Contig before I defrag and optimize with Auslogics

Since so many of you use Auslogics to defrag, why do you think Malwarebytes blocks it? MWB flags all Auslogics programs that way yet doesn't flag a lot of more harmful apps. And yes, I have it as an exclusion. Just wondering.

I mentioned before in this thread, MB flags because there are other programs offered when you install, and they are pre-checked. If you uncheck them, nothing extra installs. I'm using the Portable of course and no such issue

I love the advanced defrag profiles that come with it. if you haven't used it before, it does provide a noticeable performance improvement to mechanical drives.

But their business model works by offering other apps. IObit and others also have that business model.
You just have to read when you're installing it and don't blindly click, "Next", "Next", "Next".

By the way, I find Malwarebytes more of a nuisance than offering any real benefits.
It was good back in the early days at detecting and removing malware when earlier Windows operating systems were very vulnerable.
But these days (from Windows 8 onwards) Windows is very robust on its own.
Malwarebytes is just resting on its early reputation and more of a hindrance than providing any real benefits.
Ask yourselves this. What real malware has Malwarebytes detected and removed in the last few years? And I don't mean PUPs or cookies.

You'd have to be a reckless user to get any benefit at all from it.

I decided to give mb a trial for a few weeks and compare with Defender and it found nothing and just waated resources, so I have uninstalled it.

With any sort of disk drive manufactured in around the last 7 years defrag is totally unnecesary -- and certainly a total waste of time on SSD's and NvMe devices.

If your system slows to such an extent that disks need defragging I'd suggest there's other issues causing poor performance. Of course if disks are full and are the very old ones that have tiny cache sizes then there's not much you can do to improve performance whether defragging or not. Check also your workload and page file(s) not overcommitted.
