Hi,Either way, The RE is not broken. Instead the BCD was not updated to point to it.
There's a good reason to use DM instead of minitool. Using DM will take affect immedately while minitool will require reboot to perform the operation.
As soon as you used DM to shrink C it left unallocated space after C detaching it from the RE
This is why BDC was not updated = broken location.
The minitool restart is necessary so os has no clue what's going on so both operations done at the same time is very much better and disabling RE is not necessary but you can if you want to.
Once back in the os it has no clue of the changes to it, nothing has changed C and RE still together.
