Solved BIOS displays Battery 97%, vs. when I logged in is fully charged


If Escape, Enter, etc. work... try hitting the Tab key... if they aren't working in Safe Mode, then yes the hardware is fine in normal Windows but isn't loaded properly in Safe Mode

Very infrequently - only if you observe problems as you do now. I tend to run it once every few months just to be on the safe side.

Going from 100 to 20 would be useless. It MUST be until power cuts off to be of any use.

Note that this may not work for every system, but it's well worth testing, especially since it is such an easy thing to try.

Think I missed something in the Subject line, the BIOS is stored on a CMOS/Complementary Metal Oxide Semiconductor on the motherboard which maintains a charge from a small battery in a socket on the motherboard, usually a CR-2032. It usually has a long life, I have Notebooks more than 5 years old that haven't needed a change yet. I have a Notebook that has the CMOS storage associated with the main battery, after that battery has been discharged I have to set the date and time at every boot-up until that battery has a charge but it is old, a Toshiba running MS-DOS 6 and Windows 3.1..

My batteries in two of my Laptops occasionally will loose some charge and will not recharge when plugged in.
So, I discovered a fix that works for me.

I found a Stress Test Heavy-load test application that will drain the battery completely. When I run it I disconnect the charger and allow the battery to completely drain and the Laptop will shut off. Then I install the charger and if I wait long enough it will completely re-charge. If not, it will continue to fully charge while the Laptop is booted up and running.

The app that I use is freeware by HeavyLoad company, JAM Software...HeavyLoad.exe

So you have no saved recovery keys?
Also tell us at what point it is asking for the bitlocker recovery key, at boot or are you actually in the OS
