You're not getting internet in Safe Mode because when you select "With Networking" it's not loading your wifi drivers.

If you have ethernet on that computer, you should be able to get internet via LAN, but again, it might not be loading those drivers either.

I can only assume that the network driver or software may not be getting loaded during safe mode. :(

Like posted earlier he's probably on W10 running W11 on VMware.

VMWare has its own drivers that it uses inside VMs... that's probably why it works for that person.

The aim was to discharge the battery in safe mode, but using the laptop. Not just leaving it idle. As recommended by an expert member!

You can download the software (not in Safe Mode), leave the installer sitting on the desktop, boot into Safe Mode and try to install it from there... If that doesn't work, boot into normal Windows, install the software, then boot in Safe Mode and try to run it... that way you don't need internet in Safe Mode for any of this.

What software....I intended to keep working in safe mode..my 😞
Assumed that is possible to get connected to the internet in safe mode...

If I've missed an explanation of this along the line somewhere, please excuse me. But this discrepancy of a few percent is not a critical issue that has to be dealt with immediately, so why not do the test to see if safe mode will help when you are not going to be using the computer, like over night?

It's not something you have to do immediately. Just make sure you have a full charge before going into safe mode and let it sit over night. When you wake in the morning, plug it in.
