Solved Booting from External HDD

When I typed select vol d, received Volume 5 is the selected volume. That ok ?

This is just affecting the external hdd, and not the main SSD, correct ?

What was the result of the shrink command? Can we see another disk management display if the shrink command was successful?

From that screenshot, you are ready for the last command in the sequence:

bcdboot D:\Windows /s S: /f UEFI
Something went awry, not successful.

I am going to mark this thread solved and will continue to experiment. I do understand now that the issue is the boot format.

Again, special thanks to you @NavyLCDR. And others who kindly contributed to this thread.
