I am using the free version of the Borland Brief editor in a cmnd window and have been doing so for some years.

I have just installed Windows 11 and wanted to continue to use Brief. Although all seems to be OK there are two basic issues that makes use difficult:

When editing a file, whichever way the mouse wheel is moved the screen text always scrolls up. This is not helpful! Page up and Page down work as expected but is hardly a real solution.

The other issue is with cut and paste. When doing the ‘cut’ text appears to be copied to the clipboard OK. When I ‘paste’, there is a warning;

“You are about to paste text that contains multiple lines. If you paste this text into your shell, it may result in the unexpected execution of commands. Do you wish to continue?”

I have said ‘yes’ and continued with the paste and found that although the text appears as expected, every line is indented by an additional 6 spaces for every line. These spaces can be edited out but it is a hassle.

I have read that “The Brief interface and functionality live on, including via the SourceForge GRIEF editor.”

I would welcome any comments on the issues that I have found and whether installing the GRIEF editor would be a workable solution.

Thank you in advance for any comments, help.
