Hi all,

Thank you for anyone that looks into this as it has become a frustrating issue.

I bought a ASUS ROG Zephyrus M15 about 2 years ago when i was living in Spain and i recently returned to Canada so warranty is a bit of a pain as i would need to send the laptop to Spain to handle.
The laptop has not been my favourite since day 1 as it is known to have heat issues (something i was not aware of when buying) and i would occasionally get BSOD on Win 10 due to overheating and have to restart the machine. Recently i tried all the known tricks to resolve this and even bought a laptop cooling fan pad which has helped keep temps in the low 80s during gaming.

I then updated to Win 11 and have frequent crashes that are unlike the overheating ones. The screen will temporarily freeze, allow me to click a few screens and move my mouse around but all programs including Windows become unresponsive. At this point it will take 30-60 secs to then BSOD and instant restart before the BSOD is even done or i have had time to look at the error. It will not do this sometimes for hours of usage, heavy or light and other times i will get 3-4 within 10 mins of usage.

There isn't a pattern that i have established to why/when it freezes. I have attached my logs so would be really helpful if anyone had any pointers to helping resolve this.

In addition to replacing the Nvidia GPU please perform the following steps:

1) Run:

Tuneup_plus_log.bat ─ Click here to go to the BSOD batch repository to download and run this batch file.

2) Open administrative command prompt and copy and paste:
PowerShell $D=(New-Object -ComObject Wscript.Shell).SpecialFolders(4);Compress-Archive "%WinDir%\MEMORY.DMP" "$D\Memory_dmp"

Post a share link using one drive, drop box, or google drive.

3) Reinstall the Intel chipset drivers

Hello CCman29,

This laptop appears to have switchable graphics and can swap between the nvidia graphics adaptor for intensive graphics work and use the Intel graphics adaptor (built in) at other times or when on battery power.

I wonder if the BSOD may be due to problems when trying to switch between the two. You should also therefore try to update the Intel graphics driver as well. (Edit: actually I see you are already on the latest driver provided by ASUS)

Another thing you may be able to do is set the laptop to only use one graphics adapter, probably by a BIOS setting. See if there is anything in the manual that tells you how to do this and then test with one or the other for a while.

For switchable graphics to work properly you usually need to only use the drivers provided by ASUS and not use the generic drivers provided by nvidia or Intel.

The Intel graphics driver looks good but the nvidia graphics driver may need rolling back to the version which ASUS provide (V30.0.14.9649). If this does not work then you may need to contact ASUS and wait for them to provide a new nvidia graphics driver.

I just wanted to thank everyone who provided responses and after 3 days running 8+ hrs a day there has been zero BSOD incidents (knock on wood).

The driver updates were all helpful but i believe the issue with this laptop was the multiple video cards so i have made the NVIDIA GPU the default and the heating/BSOD issues seem to have been mitigated.

Great forum and again many thanks!!
