Cant associate .mov file to play from a Mail attachment

Been going nuts trying to associate .mov files a friend keeps sending from her iPhone. I'm using MPC-BE as my movie player. I click on "open" the.mov attachment, send it to the MPC-BE player folder, then try to find the MPC_BE .exe to associate the mov file and MPC_BE.exe doesn't show.

First attachment is the .mov file showing in my email
Second is showing it cant find the file type to associate

I know this doesn't address the question you are asking but why not use VLC as your media player. It is virtually ubiquitous around the community and it plays virtually every media file you throw at it including MOV files.

Have to tried doing a search for 'default file', select choose default app by file type in search results. In the list find .mov. You should be able to select what app you want to open that type file. I agree with the suggestion that VLC can open any kind of media file you throw at it. I do not use VLC from the app store myself, but its full installed application from here.

Try right-click, open with, instead of just Open. You should have choices listed and can choose Once or Always.

For the extension, if you choose what is shown, "no extension", it should save as the apparent file name with the .mov on the end, which will subsequentially be seen as the file extension .MOV.

I've used VLC for many years, just saw a vid from Chris Titus, where he mentions it was using a lot of CPU, that, and I just need something simple to play vids.
BTW, downloaded VLC just to see if it would work (being able to just view from the Mail app) and it did play the file either.

When I go to right click on the file, in Mail, I'm only given the option of "save" or "open". Open only offers me what you see in the second attachment image in my post.

I have Windows "default apps" set for MPC-BE for .mov files. Still wont associate from Mail app. though. I think I have no choice but to download the vids, then they open.
I was hoping to just view them from Windows Mail app and not have to bother downloading them. (there funny 1 or 2 min vids from Youtube that I don't care to keep)

It's not so much the player, but the Codec it's using.
Windows Media Player is already in Windows and will play almost any aud/vid file out there if you give it the right codec's.
For that, I've always used "K-Lite Codecs"


Download it, and install it, and Media Player will then play those .mov files.
That Codec pack will notify you when they have an update. That's one thing I do try to stay up to date with.

Media Player Classic (MPC-BE) is playing the videos fine, once there downloaded, it's just Mail wont allow me to choose Media Player or any other vid player. It's Mail and the way it won't let me choose a video app program to play the attachment that's the problem. I click on "open" on the file and it wont ask me what to open it with. (second image in my first post).

It's not a big deal, just a little aggravating I have to download the .mov file first to watch it.
