Yahoo Mail - attachment cannot preview use to but not for last 3 weeks

Hi
Can anyone help me - all of a sudden I cannot preview attachments I have to download and then open. I use to be able to open straight up and preview.
cannot find how to contact Yahoo.
no changes to system other than usual updates from Dell and Microsoft. Using windows 11.
tried removing internet security and then reinstalling all to no avail.

Everything is okay on my Yahoo webmail. Which browser are you using?

Anyway, you can contact Yahoo from within the webmail, when you are logged on.

Just click on the "?" button, which is underneath the "Home" tab, on the right-hand side of the window, next to the cog symbolized button.

I have the exact same problem! Message preview is turned on in my settings., but I have to download every attachment just to see it. Had no problem 2 weeks ago - could preview attachments. Does anyone have an idea of how to fix this?

We have 6 computers all using Yahoo Mail for small business and everyone just suddenly stopped being able to preview attached documents on new emails. Some of the older attachments will preview. Everything has to be downloaded.

It does not seem like that could be a setting or glitch, seems more likely that the software changed to not allow it for some odd reason... Anybody come up with any ideas yet?

I just discovered that jpeg files will preview - but not pdf or docx

I just went one step further and tested my computer. I sent myself a jpg, excel, word, and pdf.... PDF and word would not preview. jpg and excel both would preview. So weird...!

It is a safety feature. PDF and office documents are a large part of malware infections, especially ransomware.
Downloading them gives your AV a chance to scan them.

Same for me. Is it a safety risk to look at/preview an attachment in email? Aren't there enough protections in place that the more dangerous threat is actually downloading the attachment? There has to be some way around this because at least 50% of the time, I don't need an attachment clogging my memory. Or need to look at it while out in the field. Anyone find a way around this yet?

I'm having the same problem, too. I'm live chatting with Yahoo right now. They say they are aware of the problem and the Engineering team is working to fix the problem. I have found a temporary "help" to the problem. I still have to download the attachment, but then if I click on the little download symbol in the upper right hand corner, I can delete it right after I view it so at least it's not being stored on my computer, and I don't have to later go to my downloads to delete it.

Same here it has been happening all week thus far. It's especially annoying if I'm using my phone to read Yahoo email and i have so so little room to download meaningless attachments I only need to glance at. In fact, I find it counterintuitive to only download first and then read if they contain a virus. I tried looking for a way to message yahoo help but cannot find that either.

Any word on WHEN this will be fixed. I have to click pdf's all day, this is a real pain!!

I have the same issue, I hate to download all the attachments to check whether that is important or not.
