Solved Change User Folder Name 2nd Time

Awhile ago I used Brink's guide to change the name of my user folder using a symbolic link. Now I'd like to change the username again but I don't know how to proceed since his guide only covers doing it the first time. I tried following the same thing w the regedit and local admin, but since nothing changed after reindexing I restarted my computer. After that evertyhing was messed up and gave me errors about not being signed in correctly, so I did a system restore. What should I do instead?

You can use the same steps in the tutorial below. Keep the old symbolic link for the original name, and you'll have another for the current name linked to this new one.

Also after the system restore the name i was trying to change to still appears. ryana was the first, Bimbo was the first change, and now Sciccorz is what im trying to change to again. What should i do w the extra folder?

Go to Search or press the Windows key +R
In the box type sysdm.cpl, in the System Properties window
Click the Advanced tab, Under User Profiles
Click the Settings button
Select Sciccorz and click the Delete button. this will remove the profile and all the user files under this user.
So, be sure you have moved any files you want to keep under that profile name.

It is always a good idea to do a Computer System Image with a 3rd party app and save that image to another drive before attempting.

the thing is it says the Sciccorz folder was created way back in 2024 and the ryana folder was made last week was i was trying to change all of this. So should I just delete the msot recent folder (ryana) instead?

Whichever profile is working keep that and the profile you don't want to use any more can be deleted, or you can just leave it. You cannot delete the Profile you are logged into. Make sure the profile you choose works flawlessly and you have backed up any files you want to keep from the profile you are going to delete.

Ok I belive it is working now. Since the only profile appearing using Spunks way of sysdm.cpl was ryana I used Brinks guide again. This time I simpyl deleted the new folder (ryana) and renamed the older original folder (Sciccorz) to ryana so that I could renamed the Bimbo folder to Sciccorz--if I didn't it'd give me a duplicate folder error and another error that wouldn't let me fix it. After that I used Link Shell Extension to make a sym linkl between the (old renamed) ryana folder (has a shortcut symbol) and the new desired Sciccorz folder using the Explorer prompts instead of the sym link process in cmd prompt per Brinks guide. The og renamed shortcut folder has a funky target box (C:\Users\C\Users\Bimbo) but I'm just going to ignore it
