Besides, a legitimate retail key shouldn’t involve the company selling it to stress that you download and activate as soon as possible, and that support isn’t available if you didn’t do as requested (within 30 days).
I could be wrong but my thinking is that they mean that they won't offer any support after 30 days. By that I mean that they won't help with any activation problems if one waits over 30 days to activate the software.

I honestly think they knowingly sell keys multiple times, expecting some will never even get activated by the first purchaser allowing a second purchaser to activate with it. But if you got one of the keys that has already been activated they will rather quickly turn around another key to try. I got a previously activated key twice, each time they responded with another.

They're probably counting on people buying a whole bunch of keys in anticipation of building a lot of systems (possibly to sell) but don't get around to building them all. Unethical? maybe so, because at least some keys will inevitably be sold twice (or more). But, the first buyer(s) never bothered to activate with it, then the 30 days comes up leaving them with no recourse to the seller. But as long as I keep that in mind and get a good key in the end I'm not crying.

I was weary of these at first but once I realized that its my install media that matters, did I get a ISO direct from Microsoft and does it show its certificates. But the key is not going to put you at risk. The worse thing they can do is say it does not work and if so get another one. I have not had any issue with discounted win 11 pro or office retail keys they have always activated as they were supposed to.

The cheap license landscape can be confusing. Here is a practical breakdown:
Most $5-15 keys are Volume License or MSDN keys resold individually, which violates Microsoft ToS. OEM keys from decommissioned PCs are technically single-use and tied to original hardware. Retail keys are the only fully transferable type, but they rarely sell for under $30.
How to check what you got: Run slmgr /dli in elevated CMD to see license type (Retail, OEM, or Volume). Run slmgr /xpr to check expiration status.
Risk assessment: The key might work initially but get blocked later. You will not get banned or bricked though - worst case Windows goes back to unactivated with a watermark. For peace of mind, buying from Microsoft Store or authorized retailers is the safest option.

All my cheap Office keys bought years ago still work. If they ever failjust buy another cheap key.

Every one of my "cheap" keys report they are permanently activated. I was most surprised to find they are also retail channel and not OEM. Even the newest one has been activated over 6 months now, the oldest around 5 years. I did, twice, get a key that had been previously activated; the place I bought it from quickly sent me another that works.

I suppose that doesn't mean MS can't revoke the key at some future point. But as noted elsewhere, at this price I can buy quite a few more keys until I get one they don't revoke and still come out way ahead. I'm not too worried.

Also: when I installed and until I got a key to activate I never got the "watermark" people speak of. All that happened was certain features, like personalization, were not available to me. I'm not sure why that is.

Check with Stack Social, the two $A10 keys I bought from them are Retail keys, there was no issue at all activating them or with continued use.

buying from Microsoft Store or authorized retailers is the safest option.

Hello, how can I understand if a retailer is authorized or not?
I read the whole thread, but you guys seem to be interested in "how to find a key that works?", indeed I'm interested in "how to get a key that is legit (apart from the Microsoft Store, of course)?". I don't like the idea to buy and then verify.

It's legit if MS doesn't block it! Ensure the license key will work with installation files downloaded from a Microsoft server.

It is always prudent to buy from a site that has a decent reputation (like Stack Social) but it is still your gamble to take that the license will be accepted by MS servers when you buy something really cheap. I have purchased 3 MS OFC and several WIN11 Pro licenses and had no trouble with any of them activating, but I know I have no guarantees with the next one I buy.

An 8 dollar licence key is an absolute must on a self build PC, especially after a BIOS update that usually always results in a deactivation.

I've updated the BIOS a number of times on my two computers with Stack Social $10 keys, no problems at all. A BIOS update shouldn't be enough to deactivate your machine.

It's a common issue on MSI motherboards. It's happened to me twice. I just don't get excited over it at an 8 dollar replacement licence.
