Solved Chinese entries found in my registry

I'm not sure whether I should be afraid of these or not because I don't know what they are referring to. My system is protected by MalwareBytes Premium and the only Chinese app I have installed, to my knowledge, was Wondershare Filmora. On the other hand, I have visited a video streaming site which has resulted in a popup from that site opening a few minutes after launching Firefox every day. I close it and it disappears but it may well be the cause of these spurious looking registry entries. What action should I take, please?

Original (Registry Name)	Possible English Translation
8ğ	Possibly corrupted — appears to include the Turkish letter "ğ"; unclear meaning.
哀羡翅	Sorrowful envy wings (`哀` = sorrow, `羡` = envy, `翅` = wings)
銹8ğ	Rust 8ğ — `銹` = rust; rest appears corrupted or mixed-language.
綾䙰啿昦羡翅	Corrupted text; `綾` = patterned silk, `羡翅` = envy wings — rest unreadable.
宿䙰啿昦羡翅	Possibly: Haunted envy wings — `宿` = dwelling/ghost, `羡翅` = envy wings.

But it might be some random non-asci hex values that show up as Chinese characters.
Nothing to worry about, I think.

Hard to say:

Could all be benign, but it’s hard to say.
It’s interesting they’re all grouped together, could be registry corruption?

You could try installing BitDefender Total Security 30x day trial, and performing full scan.

Do you normally use computer with an Admin account?

If so, not a good idea.

This weird characters issue - is rather old. Every year for past 16 years (if not older - since i remember seeing weird Asian characters in Windows 7 as well) - you'll see topics from people who bump into that side of the registry for the first time. Don't remember if they're present on a clean install or caused by some installed app - but seem to be safe (just registry trash).

This is a known problem with how Windows apps can wrongly interpret character strings. Some specific sequences of Unicode bytes trick the text renderer into thinking you have UTF-16 content. And when it makes this mistake, all the wrong characters happen to be Asian font characters.

You don't have a security problem. It's been a Windows bug for decades. MS knows about it, but can't fix it because they're afraid it might cause other bugs.

This will happen when an application uses a Unicode registry function with ANSI text. I have such entries in my computer. I pasted the value name into a hex editor and found that when interpreted as ANSI text it made sense. I won't go into how to do that. I can't do that with text in an image as appears here.

I wouldn't consider this a bug in Windows. The text is legitimate Unicode which can be used in value names. It is out of place but that can only be determined with real world knowledge, which computers do not have.

I wouldn't be concerned. The problem with malicious software isn't with what you see, but with what you don't. Malicious software takes great pains to hide itself, not advertise its presence.
