compact os do I need it or not

hello I have a query I would like to ask i have a 128gb hard drive for c drive and have 57gb left can I use the compact os command to get more space or am I okay with what I have I only just found this out today and is it okay to use

Windows 10 includes tools to help you use less drive space.

It looks like you would save less than 5GB compacting the OS.

I would start by uninstalling any apps you're not using.

Then, run Disk Cleanup and see how your free space is.

I have a 1 TB drive and have only used 48GB.

I keep it pretty clean, and archive old stuff to a removable drive.

Takes less time to scan for malware, and backup as well.

I mostly install games on my e drive and my SSD drive

My gaming/streaming system has two NVME drives:

Main/System: 500gb with 127g used (OS, LibreOffice, and most apps)
Gaming: 2TB with 1.5TB used (Steam, Battle.net, and various games along with mods)

If you can, I would try to get a 500GB drive just for your OS and apps. I have no need to compact my OS drive. I feel that 500GB is about as small as you can work with without having to remove/uninstall. CompactOS won't make a major difference on your system drive.

If you have other drives and space is really not a consideration, then I don't see why you would enable it. A couple of restore points will take up that much space.
