Solved Continued SFC Errors


Stupsi was reacting to constant reports from sfc that errors were being repaired regardless that sfc had just been run and repaired them.

If you were to check the forum there are posts about it everywhere with even some of the most proficient members being stumped or concerned.

I’d also have been concerned but I didn’t update until a few days after 24H2 was released so I was able to put a hold on all Windows updates before they installed, after reading all the report's. I disconnected the Internet on the PC before it boot into 24H2 and used WAU Manager to block updates before reconnecting.

Win 11 24H2 Update Cleanup Issue

Just updated to Win 11 Pro 24H2. All is working fine. However, I've got an additional 8.63GB of Update files that won't delete (see image). I've run Component Store cleanup but it hasn't made any difference. Also ran it in safe mode. Dism.exe /online /Cleanup-Image /StartComponentCleanup...

Yep...the sfc issue appears to be a common problem right now. I first encountered it when a preview update installed. When I uninstalled it the issue was fixed. However, when yesterday's security update was installed, it returned.

I believe it came with the immediate update that followed 24H2 and remained present in the update yesterday that brought Windows to build 26100.2033. Everyone just expected it to be fixed. Which is fair and probably not too much to ask.

Everyone will have to be patient waiting for a fix from MS. The latest update from the Feedback Hub app in Windows 11 has a note re this SFC issue stating MS are looking into this.

I would think after running it and restarting, everything would clear out and be okay. Is this a problem with 24H2 having continuous SFC errors. I've attached the cbs.log if that helps. Hi Stupsi. I'm all about running SFCs. I'm here because for the first time in a long time the SFC wouldn't go away, even after two tries at DISM or whatever it's called. I'll accept the advice from this board that it's a non-issue, but I will absolutely reject the opinion it's useless to run SFCs.

The reason is SFCs reveal damaged files. Like you, I run an SFC after every update. I run three PCs in my house and they're trouble free. When a friend asks me for help on a PC, it's the first thing I run and it always reveals damage.

i run SFC and DISM, restart, then SFC again,
just to be sure to be sure.

Right after I updated to 24 -- a cumulative update showed up and the SFC runs as intended.
