Hi,

Been using Windows 11 for a couple of weeks and went to use the "copy path/copy as path" option from the context menu and was not able to locate it. I selected Shift as I did in Windows 10, but again it did not appear.

Is this option available in the build I am using or is this not yet enabled? Is there a wauy to enable it with the current build I am using?

Thanks

Greg

Working fine on my system, same build. Have you run sfc /scannow to check if there may be a corrupt system file causing the issue?

Hi,

That's concerning.

I ran sfc /scannow twice, first time, it reported corrupted files and repaired them. I then restarted my laptop, no change with the copy path context menu option. I then ran sfc /scannow and this time no errors, but no copy path option available still.

I have only had the new laptop for less than a month, so concerned something like this has happened, which may lead to other issues happening further down the line.

Any ideas on how this can be resolved?

Thanks for any suggestions.

Greg

Strange. It's present for me. I don't have to hold down the shift key to get it to appear in the context menu; it's just there.

Could you provide a screenshot of what your context menu looks like? I'm not optimistic that it'll help, but I'm curious.

Here's mine accessing a NAS drive and the Show more options item:

I just run it like the sfc /scannow, in a Command Prompt or PowerShell with Administrative Privileges.

Thanks. I have attached 2 screenshots, one is the main context menu, the other the Show More Options menu.

Thanks.

I see you're showing the context menu for a folder, rather than a file. The "copy as path" option should still be there. I get it, and it also appears in the window brought up by "show more options". I presume it's absent in both, for you.

It's outside my (limited) experience.

If it was my system, I might try a repair install, after I'd imaged the OS drive.

Good luck.

Hi, Thanks for this, that's worked perfectly, without the need for me to select SHIFT to view this in the context menu.

Greg
I was hesitant to carry out a repair install just for this, given my knowledge is not that good with this type of thing.

All seems ok having run scans as noted above, just trying to gauge what other people would do given this workaround and consider that enough or would they take it further with a repair install - which does seem extreme just for this?

Thanks

Greg

A repair install is not an extreme method and should not cause you any issues, a clean install would be, but as stated create an OS image first to prevent headaches.
Obviously something is 'wrong' with your system or a menu item that is part of Windows normally would not be MIA, I noticed on one of your screenshots you have a Panda utility installed, do you have any other 3rd party apps installed?
Have you tried disabling any/ all 3rd party apps or starting in safe mode to determine if one of those may be the culprit?
If a certain option has been disabled correctly by a 3rd party utility then both DISM and SFC would not necessarily complain about missing/ corrupt files.
The first instance of SFC finding corruption can be simply an incorrect or duplicate permissions setting on a file or folder, not a huge deal and sometimes happens after a cumulative update, although there are many other reasons, but is not always a sign of anything more serious.
