How far back should MS keep supporting hardware? 386? 486? Should they offer Windows 10 or 11 on floppy disks? What about cell phone carriers that are no longer support older phones on their networks? Do you have the same complaint about AT&T, Verizon, etc? This is from AT&T's website:

Like with anything else it is up to the consumer to recycle it properly. Not just toss it in the bin/trash.

No. they are suggesting it's safer for those with incompatible hardware to stick with Windows Ten until they are ready to upgrade - It's still supported for a few years

Floppy disks??? It would take over 2,400 floppies to hold/install 10,,

In a way they are.. they're not selling the OS via DVD and are making a download that can be put onto a USB. But I get it.. you want to complain about MS.

One thing that I do not like is something that is seen more and more ...
Instead of stating the pass gets one metric and fail gets another they say it with two different metrics :think:

Intel launched their 8th gen processors on 5th October 2017, so the first Windows 11 compatible machines would now be four years old.

Wasn't this something like what happened to Win 7 when you installed Win 10 about 7 years ago? I don't think that the CPU'S were very compatible either.

Win 10 is currently going to be supported until 2025 so that is a good plan just to be safe.
I will stay on 10 and will revisit the issue and get a replacement computer in 2025. Gives me plenty of time to save.
Since I only do refurbs Plenty of 8th gen computers will be available on the cheap.
I have a licensed VM of 11 to play with.

Different issue, Some low-powered computers ran like crap. Also, Driver issues with some computers and of course some software need to be upgraded. Heck, some needed new printers as well.
Same thing as with XP and Vista as well.

Plenty already are. I only buy used laptops and I've see a Dell with an i3 8th gen at around £180 here. My System One came from the same source at not much more than that.

I have been using and selling business class refurbs for years. My trusted vendors here in the US are still doing 6 and 7 gen and older. In the process of searching for some new vendors that have compatible computers, I can supply to my clients on a tightish budget.

Well, I'm buying for myself, so that makes it easier to shop around for the best bargains. I can also afford to wait and see what turns up. My 'supplier of choice' has a no-quible returns policy, so in the rare event of a problem machine I can just return it and get my money back.

Assuming all the crashes are Kernel mode crashes then, the difference is that 0.2% has crashes on supported systems, while 0.3% had crashes on non supported systems. in my book this is very minimal difference and could actually have been caused by other reasons than the CPU itself.

I did the math too, and came to the same sort of figures the whole technique seems to be something thought up by the sales department, when you see the 52% that gives you an impression of a huge advantage to the one side when in reality it's a minor difference

Exactly...

Having said that, we need to be conscious of the fact we can't rely on software for security - firmware based security is much more important .. I see Linux is being targeted with ransomware now as well ...
