Hey guys ... Company is just starting to load windows 11 imaging into SCCM. we are running 22H2. One of the things we are trying to do is get two things:
1. THIS PC icon on the desktop (this is done and working)
2. We want to change the name of the icon to the PC name i.e. RR-ISxxx. I have found the registry key that does this, (I think ) see screen shot. there are two instances of "this pc" in the registry but this is the one that changed the name after a reboot. under windows 10 you could use %computername% to get it done. so far it's not working in windows 11 ....

Appreciate the time and attention.

Cheers

I'm a little confused so excuse me if I'm misinterpreting what you want.

Your thread title is about an image. Yet you mention changing computer name. If you're asking how to change computer name go to Settings>system>about "Rename this PC" Will take effect on restart.

To create a shortcut to “This PC” on your desktop with whatever name you want:
  1. Right-click on an empty area of your desktop.
  2. Select “New” and then “Shortcut”.
  3. In the “Create Shortcut” window, type explorer.exe shell:MyComputerFolder and click “Next”.
  4. Type a name for the shortcut, whatever you want or “This PC”, and click “Finish”.

Hello RDJ,

From this article, I understand that if you check the box in the SCCM task setup to "capture the Windows settings" on the target computer, it will capture the name of the computer as part of the process of deployment.

Hope this helps.
