Debloat Windows 11 or not?

Windows 11 has been out for 4 years now.

MS have shown no indication that they will change their position, and as time goes on, there will be even less incentive to change.

Windows 10 (2015) is still supported (with ESU) and that is 10 years old.
Even Apple only support devices manufactured since 2017/8!

Compare that with android phones that only get 4 years (some now 7) of support.

It is easy for us to complain about things but the truth is MS provide better support for older devices than its major competitors.

It's not that tasty - but this days i eat mostly dark chocolate with 80% cacao. ☺️👌

You can't upgrade phone hardware but you can do upgrades(ssd, ram, grahic card ect..) on pcs.

Even if apple stop os updates for older macs it still gives security patches in background.

Considering 7th gen i7 would run win 11 much better than 13th gen i3, the argument seems irrelevant here.

That seems very unlikely, both have 4 cores with hyperthreading (desktop processors) , the i3 would be faster in both single and multi thread operations. But if you forced win 11 onto a 7th gen i7 system I'm sure it would run perfectly well.

It is not for nothing that Windows is the world's most popular consumer OS. I do disable OneDrive because it sucks up my slow upload bandwidth by constantly uploading files. I keep all my documents in the cloud and they are not constantly being backed up. Those with high-spec machines and fast internet will see little or no benefit in debloating.

I do debloat Windows 11.

Indeed Windows 10/11 OS in my Office are all debloated. they run a little bit faster in my test running python scripts and excel macro.

Windows 7 is best OS, fastest running and shortest test time. Just no MSFT support any more.

@Skeptic Mike

Maybe slightly in single core but in multi core i7 do much better than i3. Desktop or non desktop doesn't matter at the end one supported by win11 and other not. With thousands of user entries benchmarks, under multiple task hyperthreading gives big advantage to i7 next to i3.

Screenshot (90).webpScreenshot (91).webp

besides lets take a look at 4th 5th 6th gen i7 performance compared to i3 8th, 9th, 10 gen. Under heavy load its proven with numbers that i7 do better than i3.

+ My point here is any i3 8th gen and above supported by windows 11 at this point you can compare 7th gen i7 with any of these i3s (im not even talking about n300 series lol)

To sum up even 13th gen i3 users might look ways to debloat win 11 for smooth performance :)

I recently installed windows 11 X-lite optimum (comes in Pro version - preactivated).
Be careful when using Windows X-Lite Optimum. It corrupts your system and you may face the BSOD.

When Windows does an update, doesn’t the de-bloated programs make a return?

The best option is to disable the programs you don’t need.

It happened just last week.

I installed Windows X-Lite 10 Optimum on my HP EliteBook and could no longer use my backup software rescue disk to do a backup nor MCT to re-install Windows after that.

The BSOD appeared each time I tried to do either.

The SFC indicated a corrupted system that could not be fully repaired. Using DISM online didn’t help either.

It took me an hour to finally solve the boot up problem. Using HP Help online, I was able to re-install Windows with my MCT.

Consider yourself fortunate if you don’t face the BSOD.

The funny thing is it was all fine on my Dell Inspiron but not on my HP EliteBook. So I guess it depends on which laptop you are using.

Try run the SFC and tell me what it says.

I did not have any problem installing it on my Dell Inspiron either. In fact I could even back it up with MR. But my SFC /Scannow indicated a corrupted system.

I ran DISM online. It said the image was reparable. Successful restoration!

Then I ran SFC again. Same thing all over again. My system was corrupted and could not be repaired.

So either SFC or DISM was lying.

Do me a favor. If you install Windows X-Lite Optimum the next time, run SFC.

If it says your system is corrupted, repair it as best you can and then run SFC again.

If it says ‘No issue found’, then power to you and I stand corrected.

"IT CORUPTS YOUR SYSTEM" - Tell me how and where. Run DISM check and SFCSCAN and see for yourself. Maybe is just you or your machine. ;-) I have been using X-lite optimum for 6 months on 3 different machines. None of them had any issues. Also windows update works as it should and i am also in insider beta channel, still no issues at all. even cloned my system (too lazy to reinstall all the software and tweaks i use) from old machine to new one and everything is fine. I even have my system cloned to VHD file on USB stick and using Ventoy to boot it up on different machines when needed.

If I have any problems with any OS that I can't fix in minutes, I just restore from a Macrium Reflect backup. This takes only a few minutes.

Did the problem occur immediately after you installed X-Lite, or later?

@ Thorenzz
If you have successfully run Windows X-Lite on 3 separate machines for 6 months without an issue, then obviously something went wrong on my end.

Are your 3 laptops the same brand?

I am asking because all went well on my Dell but it did not on my HP.

If I have any problems with any OS that I can't fix in minutes, I just restore from a Macrium Reflect backup. This takes only a few minutes.

Did the problem occur immediately after you installed X-Lite, or later?
Same with me. I do Macrium backup almost on daily basis.

While you can pay for a download (as a way to contribute to the hard work put in by Chris and all the people who have worked on it), the main method of using it is in Powershell. It's a web based app and using the following code in an Admin Powershell window will run the Stable (non-beta) Branch of the app:

This is the only and best method I use for debloating Windows.. also not having to use a Microsoft account is great.

That’s good enough for me.

Something definitely went astray when I was installing Win X-Lite Optimum on my HP.

I apologize for causing an alarm.
