My graphics cards are Intel Iris Xe Graphics and Nvidia Geforce RTX 3050. On task manager, is there a reason why GPU 0 is Nvidia 3050 and GPU 1 is Intel Iris Xe Graphics and not the other way around?

I have done all windows updates and Dell firmware updates but how do I know for sure both my graphics cards are fully updated?

Task Manager shows

Nvidia Geforce RTX 3050 Driver version 32.0.15.5612 and the driver date is June 2024

Intel Iris Xe Graphics Driver version 31.0.101.5186 and the driver date is January 2024

Is it possible that both my drivers are not up to date? The dates are a bit older so is it updated? Someone had mentioned you are suppose to go directly to the Intel and Nvidia site to update these drivers? Is that true or false? Because I have done that with Intel when my main external monitor didn't work and I had to install this Intel arc driver and only that made my main external monitor work. I use 2 external monitors. This was a while back though.

However, I have never went to nvidia website to manually update the 3050. From what I posted above, do I need to manually go to the sites to update the drivers or not? The thing that is confusing is why does it show those driver dates for the nvidia if I never did a manual update of the driver from the nvidia website? I got this laptop few years ago. So did these drivers update during a windows update or dell firmware update?

The other thing I want to ask is this. I don't recall if it was my old xps 15 9550 laptop or if it is this xps laptop... but back then I recall when I opened task manager, it would show which GPU the poker client program was using. My older laptop had a much older nvidia graphics card but the thing was I recall one poker program did use the nvidia graphics card but another program used the Intel one.

At the moment on this laptop, how do I find this out on task manager? It doesn't seem to show it? I recalled back then it showed GPU 0 or GPU 1. So that must been my windows 10 pro laptop that is the xps 15 9550 then? I can't find any of this on task manager now? The only thing I notice is my Nvidia 3050 graphics card which is categorized as GPU 0 always shows 0%. The Intel iris xe graphics card which is categorized as GPU 1 always shows some percentage which makes sense since almost all the programs on my laptops uses it correct? But because the Nvidia 3050 GPU 0 always shows 0%, that means the poker client isn't using the Nvidia. Is there a way to set it up where it does? I went to nvidia control panel and clicked on manage 3d settings and program settings and tried to add the poker client to it. When I went to change it to high performance nvidia processor as opposed to use global setting/integrated graphics, it seems to show an error? So I can't make the program use the Nvidia then? I ask this because my laptop freezes a lot on the client and I was thinking maybe getting it on the nvidia might make it better? But if it doesn't use 3d animations, then I can't do this right?

At the moment, I want to make sure my graphics card is updated so it is fast. Can someone tell me how to do this? There is another member on this forum named Garytrader I believe who mentioned he did all his dell updates on his dell laptops with the dell update app? I never used that. But would that mean it update the Intel iris xe graphics card and the Nvidia 3050?

both nvidia and intel have update software that can be used to check and update drivers.

The last thing I want to mention is that since I'm using 2 external monitors... I believe it uses the Intel Iris Xe graphics card to connect the monitors. I know that when I check the display settings, it shows the Intel Iris xe graphics. So it can't use the nvidia 3050 in these situations? I am confused with this.

So you have to download these manually yourself? Windows updates and dell firmware updates will not download these updates for your 2 drivers then?

However, the dates of those drivers are not a few years old though? Because if it didn't, then wouldn't these driver dates be much older? I got this laptop few years ago.

I clicked on Dell Update Program on my laptop and when I clicked on check, it showed a few different updates available.

Critical Updates

Dell/Alienware Windows Universal Application July 2024

Intel Iris Xe Graphics December 2024

Nvidia Geforce RTX 3050/3050TI/4050/4060/4070 Graphics Driver March 2025

Realtek PCIe Memory Card Reader Driver November 2024

Recommended Updates

Dell SupportAssist OS Recovery Plugin For Dell Update April 2025

So check only the critical updates and then click install at the bottom? Do you check Automatically restart system (when requested) or leave that unchecked?

Do if I download this, then my 2 graphics cards will be up to date? Or it still won't be? Because when you check the website you posted above, aren't these drivers still a bit older? Or does Dell Update make sure these are the 2 most up to date drivers for your system?

I didn't get an answer to this which is why I'm asking.

I have been trying to figure out a long time ago why this is happening and I'm getting different answers from different people. I don't want to try one thing and then others say you shouldn't have did that etc.

I play online poker as my income. So imagine you do something where you do it for your income and this happens all the time. Imagine you do day trading and when you going to do a trade, your computer lags and then you can't do anything until you restart your laptop. My case is worst because when I'm playing and it freezes, I'm sitting out at all my tables so I'm losing chips at every single table.

I want to know what I can do because this is basically unplayable for me. I am pretty sure it has to do with the poker software but not sure if I could change some settings on my laptop that probably fix these issues?

Can someone tell me if I should use Dell Update and update the critical updates? So after I do this, then my graphics drivers will be up to date right?

Is it necessary to do all of those or only the Intel Iris and the Nvidia? What is Realtek PCIe? Is that necessary? What about Dell/Alienware Windows Universal Application?

I went and downloaded these below from Dell website and upgraded the 2 graphic card drivers. The screen then flashed several times during this.

It shows as installed. However, when I go to task manager, it shows

GPU 0 Nvidia 3050 Driver Version 32.015.6641 December 2024

GPU 1 Intel Iris Xe Graphics Driver Version 32.0101.6078 September 2024

Is there a reason why it did not update to the March 2025 release date of the Nvidia 3050 and the December 2024 release date of Intel Iris Xe Graphics?

I restarted laptop and when going to Dell website and entering my XPS 15 9520 and serial number, it shows my system is up to date. But why did it not download the later release date for both the Nvidia and Intel Iris Xe? When I went and opened Dell Command, it no longer showed any graphic card updates available. So does this mean this is the latest graphic cards drivers for my specific XPS 15 9520 then?
