Dell XPS M1530 CMOS battery replacement help.

I want to replace the CMOS battery on this old laptop I have.
I read that the CMOS battery can be in two different areas on this laptop, one easy, one difficult, mine is difficult which requires disassembling a lot of the laptop.
I've searched to find a video for my particular situation but can't find one, but did come across this post with a link, but the link is no longer accessible.

I don't want to remove any more than I have to to replace the CMOS battery as I've never taken a laptop apart before.
There are videos of the laptop being disassembled but to get to the area I need to get to, I don't want to remove more than I have to.
I'm just wondering if anyone with more knowledge of computer forums has an idea where I could find a video that I need?

The thread in your link was from 2014. The laptop was released in 2007. I wonder what OS you're running on it? (Probably not 11 24H2 or later.)

There's still a service manual that's available for download.

I hope that it's worth the effort of major disassembly.

I'm pretty sure it has Vista.

The manual does say what has to be removed which is helpful but a video would make it so much easier.
There is a couple of good disassembly videos, perhaps I can work out from there what needs doing.

Be sure to be careful with the ribbon cable connectors, if present.

Not sure why you're messing with such a relic, but have fun.

I've dealt with many Dells of that vintage.That old laptop requires almost 100% disassembly to replace the CMOS. If you've had no experience doing this I strongly suggest you do not unless you don't care whether it will work or not and just want to play with it. Note: There are many screws and ribbon cables and they are not interchangeable for the most part so keep them marked and separated if you expect it to go back together.
Print the service manual. You'll need i.

My 2014 Dell laptop had the CMOS battery location covered requiring major disassembly of the laptop. I very carefully cut a window in the plastic cover above the battery so its now easy to replace. This is poor product design.

A CMOS battery will need replacing, so why make it so difficult to do so?

The manufacturers want to discourage us doing our own repairs. They want to send it back and pay for the replacement of the parts. Of course sending back to the manufacturer will cost you a premium, while if you take it to a third-party computer service you might pay less. If you want to follow the video to do it yourself, make sure it is the video for your exact model and take a photo of every component you take apart, so you know exactly where it goes.

I suggest to start from obtaining a good set of tools specifically for laptop disassembling and repair. Usually they include not only the screwdriver with interchangeable blades, but also some plastic pries which are especially important to disconnect the ribbon cables without any damage to connectors. Good magnifying glass is also important. The pry which is used to open the bottom lid and some others, can be replaced with a guitar plectrum, thin and not too hard (from personal experience).

ifixit has the necessary tools to fix/disassemble an old Dell laptop; ordered such an ifixit laptop repair kit from amazon several years ago to fix up a similar Dell 2007 laptop

As far as I know, most laptops need only a Philips screw driver at a small size suitable for their little screws and a pry tool to open it without using a flat screwdriver and risk causing damage to the case. You can even use a credit card or a guitar plectrum. In most laptops all the different size screws can be removed with this same screwdriver, you don't need many different sizes, as is the case with a Macbook. Even better, there are only 2-3 different size screws, so it is easier to put back together. Typically all case screws have the same size except some near the touchpad which might be shorter. All you need is remember the correct order because, even I that I am an expert have sometimes put a component back only to discover I should connect a ribbon first or other component. It is not very convenient to take out a couple of parts again just because you forgot to connect something. So write down the order you remove them and put them back in the reverse order. Fixit site helps you with photos step-by-step, so even if you forget something, just follow the pictures in the reverse order to put it back.
