I always run my batch file from a desktop shortcut, in which I specify that I want the batch file run with "Administrative Privileges".
I don't know if that's absolutely necessary, but it seems to "Work for me.".

I didn't misunderstand it. I think it's great. I was just hoping to clean up a lot of old clutter. Patch Cleaner is good for removing clutter from older versions of Windows. But your batch file is definitely good for getting rid of the files that constantly get created and not deleted. I'm going to run it tomorrow in safe mode.

My elderly brother-in-law was about to buy a new desktop because his was so slow. A daughter visited and found 27GB of stuff in his recycle bin!
The desktop is now perfectly fast enough for him.

Ah yes, the infamous old Recycle Bin!
When I was writing my Batch File, I wanted to add a line to empty the Recycle bin on my C:\ drive.
I could not do it in DOS batch language. But with some help from a Forum Member I came up with a line in "Windows Power Shell" that did the trick very nicely. In fact, it's SO nice that it empties the Recycle Bins in all four of my drives, at the same time!
It IS however, necessary to have the Power Shell active on the PC, for that line to work.

The only thing my Batch File doesn't do, and Can't do, is clean up the Registry. But I have 'WinUtils' for that. After uninstalling MS Office, several years ago now, I ran the Registry Cleaner and it removed just over 30 MB of leftover Office crap from my Registry.
So I don't consider my Windows really clean till the Registry is Clean.

Back in the days when I was still running service calls on PC's, in peoples homes, it would sometimes take hours to get all the crap out of a PC and get it running Right again. I didn't charge by the hour, but a flat rate for a "Tune Up".
Much of what I learned in those days, long past now, has gone into my Cleanup.bat program.
It's the culmination of many years of hard work. And now that it's out in the world, I can die in peace.

And, that's just one of many places that I would clean out!!! I used to do this stuff professionally, so I got pretty good at it.
My own "Cleanup.bat" batch file program is the culmination of 40+ years of cleaning up Computers, from PC's to Mainframes.
I only regret that it can't clean the Registry.

There is a tweak, that will load the registry into RAM on boot up. That can greatly speed up a PC that still uses a mechanical hard drive. That's not required for an SSD.
I've used that tweak for years, to get the most performance out of a PC that still uses an old mechanical HD.
Unfortunately, most users have no idea, that Windows will access the Registry several thousand times in a normal days work.
It's more difficult to access, and slower to read if it's bloated and fragmented.
That's why I try to keep my registry clean and defragmented. (or, loaded into ram when I'm running my SSD)

Everything I do to Windows to improve performance, was made possible by some Microsoft programmer.
Window has more back doors than a Walmart.

No one would dream of driving a 1/4 ton pickup truck around, with 1 Ton of rocks in the bed, but they will run a PC with thousands or even Millions of junk files in it. And then wonder why it's not running so good any more.

I used to clean up PC's for people, and get the comment "WOW! It didn't run that fast when it was new!"
All I could say was, "I know, it's what I do."

And you never see anyone on any forum complaining about it.

I have the latest Version of Windows 11, available anywhere in the world, and I back it up every week, with Ghost 11.5.

I just did a little web search for "Broadcom Ghost" and found this little jewel:


If memory serves, 'Binary Research' was a New Zealand company. Ghost was bought by Symantec, in 1998.
I've heard it called Norton Ghost, but Peter Norton never had anything to do with it.
I got my own first copy directly from the originating company, in 1997.

Yep. I'm an octo, too, and we've corresponded, cuz I went to school in Gainesville, and used to visit Cedar Key frequently. Hope you make it to Nono, Shadow.

You might not recognize Cedar Key, after that last Hurricane. It's been forever changed. My favorite restaurant was so badly damaged that it may never open again. And the highrise Hotels and condos are popping up down there, like mushrooms. But, they still don't have a Walmart!
I've been down there just once in the last year.
