DISM /RestoreHealth errors meaning

It seems to require TrustedInstaller permissions to delete all current packages (should I?), and then copy similar packages from the WIM? If I change effective permissions of the WIM Servicing folder files to myself, it might not work normally after that, if at all possible? Looks like a full stop for now. :(

Also, why the Wim folder has twice as less packages compare to online Servicing\Packages folder???

Download and run PowerRun, so you're temporarily TrustedInstaller. Which avoids the ugly hack of taking over system files.

I cleaned up the Packages folder before copying with Robocopy its content from the WIM folder (which has only "toplevefiles" visible) with PowerRun. Was it a good idea to delete old .cat and .mum files with twice bigger count compare to WIN? Currently DISM running already 15 min at 62.3% installing something via Windows Updates.

I wonder if online Servicing\Packages folder could contain more cats and mums compare to corresponding Windows release, i.e. some 3rd party Catalogs to update installed Windows or 3rd party apps? Or, may be it were old Catalog copies?

Similar story happen with my laptop. I decided to run DISM on it after a year, and it get stack at 62.3% for an hour, but then finished without error. The laptop however was working great before and after despite that.

If you have an updated UUP dump image, then the source file contents are already patched. Hopefully this was the only damage to the Servicing files.

Did you mean they were patched on the fly based on my previous Servicing stack content when the UUP ISO was been autoassembled on my PC?

Finally I got numerous errors after running DISM Restore Health that seems to suggest Repair Install. But if deleted cats were related to installed 3rd party or extra Windows packages, even Repair Install won't fix that.

There are no 3rd-party packages in \Windows\Servicing\Packages, it's entirely dedicated to optional Features. Like I said before, either it's a simple fix or you've got more corruption which only a re-install can address.

I got the Repair Install done by running a matching my current install Windows ISO version autoassembled on my PC from corresponding UUP dump files set, and copied with install restrictions removed onto a Rufus controlled Thumb mounted in online OS. So far so good, all apps are still there upon re-install, no DISM errors for now. (y)

I wonder if Brink can write-up a Tutorial for novices on Windows 11 Repair Install from Rufus or Ventoy controlled thumb drive on unsupported PC hardware (except Win 24H2 extra restrictions), where a regular Repair Install from Windows ISO won't run. One can also use a matching Windows ISO version of a somewhat prior or major feature release, but upon re-install it would run lengthy recent Windows Updates.
