Do you do Windows Update?


I update religiously, except for my drivers. I don't let WU touch them. Too many automagic rollbacks after I have installed the latest ones.

With MS Windows? I'd figure it was checking updates anyway and then just not prompting to install the drivers.

I don't trust MS to do what you'd logically expect, ever. For example, in this area, I've told it to notify me when updates are ready via Group Policy, which it will do. However, if I go in and "Check Updates", it will still download and install them immediately. That's neither logically faithful to the options I set or even the meaning of "Check for Updates" i.e. I didn't click "Download and Install" updates, I just requested a "Check".

Bottom line: I never expect MS options to be logical... which is why I asked.

You don't have to let it load the drivers just because it checks for them. My machine has three drivers available, but since there's no issue with any of these devices, I'm not going to worry about them.
