Solved Do you have an PC upgrade plans??

The Dev build that leaked did so without Microsoft's consent, so as far as that versions' compatibility and even the requirements for install we cannot rely on them being set the same on release.

Microsoft have now released a first official insider with reduced requirements to load and run than the originally stated requirements - this is understandable as Microsoft require as large a test pool as is practical. Microsoft have also stated that the are keeping options open on the final requirements and limits as they monitor the systems using the insider versions.

They have stated that the security requirements are part of the base plan for the new OS when it's released, [I think to appease the business markets which is where they make money from OS sales], but I think that some of the arbitrary restrictions on Processor and or chipset may be more flexible on release

Of course it is normal industry practice with beta software that on release the test installs should all be removed and replaced with the full released version. Microsoft have been a bit relaxed on this side of things in the past and may be again, although this way of working can give a negative public image of the OS as it is not a stable base platform for long term use so will be more likely to cause issues than the official "gold" released version

I see that the motherboard supports fTPM. I don't know if that presents TPM 2.0, but I'd guess yes.

My BIOS is 5216 so good there. Not an issue to update to the latest 5603 BIOS. With the exception of the CPU showing a "?", everything else is good when using the PC Health Check.

No, none of us can have any idea until an RTM ISO is available, or at least a Release Preview build. There is some hope that at least one of my machines will be upgradeable to 11, if it will be allowed to install on a 6th gen processor.

There is some evidence to think that will be the case. According to Microsoft none of my machines that were supplied by their OEM with Windows 7 or Windows 8.1 pre-installed are running on supported processors for their original OS (MS say 5th gen or later), and only one out of my six that are running Windows 10 have a supported processor (6th gen or later).

There is supposedly one built into the board chipset, and an additional Header for later chips - unfortunately this is the MB that's gone "loopy" with subsystems like the Bluetooth, failing It's currently sat in the trash for recycling so I can't check physically - I'll try and dig out the original manual, see if anything shows up

Anyway, snip of the page in the bios ... from the manual so defaults are shown

The way I understand it the Cyan highlight is the built in TPM and the yellow is the TPM Header which shows no data as it's just the header not a secondary chip

Thanks for the confirmation JG - I've not messed with many BIOS's for a while as my last few builds have been done by others for me. I'm still more familiar with the old Monochrome Text only ones

I feel so envious to know much here are having plan to upgrade. I had an AMD system with Ryzen 9 3900x and last year I handed it over to my son as he needed it for his multimedia studio, saying that daddy don't need that sturdy system just to play around. Never thought Win 11 was on the way.

Will wait for sometimes, learning some affordable and minimum systems that accomodate TPM & secure boot.

Though it feels like I deserve it. Will just sit back and learn first.
Actually, I'm wondered by my 10-year-old intel machine (DH55PJ). It runs Windows 10 very smoothly. Don't know when it will give up on me.

I just modified my Windows 10 installer to make it install Windows 11.. and it did the trick in my no TPM machine (BIOS was 9 years old)

The requirements for installing Windows 11 have been reduced during the beta testing phase, some if not all of the original restrictions are due to be reapplied to the release version. It is usual to require a fresh install to move to the release version and not an update

I have two HP desktops (1 Intel 10th gen i7 10700 and the other AMD Ryzen 5 2600) and an HP laptop that will all run Windows 11, so no necessity to update computer wise.

I'm not an avid fan of built-in graphics for any machine, be it AMD or Intel based, so, I will get a new NVIDIA graphics card for the Intel i7 machine when prices get down to reasonable. The AMD already has one and is bound for the Sr. Center as a teaching machine.

I'm pretty sure it will be awhile before I get the graphics card, since I refuse to support those who take advantage of others' misfortunes by raising prices to sky high!
