Some computers have nothing wrong with them and will last for years - why not upgrade them to the latest Windows so they're supported? And yes I'm too poor to go out and buy a new one! Aside from that, I prefer some of the old ones. I like smaller touchpads.

It's another builtbybel project. I find it interesting the code's written in C, but calls PowerShell to do some dirty work.

The existing code indicates it'll evolve into one of those "kitchen sink" projects that will host 20-30 random "annoyance" settings for Windows, and possibly end up as a generic W11 ISO debloater. Some folks will like that, but it's no longer a single function tool.

Older laptops are better. The batteries are better, the case is stronger, the touchpad has buttons, the ram isn't soldered to the board so it can be upgraded. New laptops are disposable like plastic cups.

I had 2 new laptops develop swollen batteries at the same time on the same day. I watched the touchpad start rising up and couldn't figure out what was going on. I checked the other laptop and same thing. I called the electric company out and showed them 2 swollen batteries, but they couldn't find anything wrong. Meanwhile an old HP with the cylinder shaped batteries is still going after being plugged in since 2015. Those new batteries in a bag are junk. I've seen a couple phones swell up like that too.

Having a battery start inflating like a tire is my biggest fear when buying anything new. Can't leave anything plugged in all the time anymore.

I do still have a working HP Pavilion DM4 in a cupboard somewhere :-) And a couple of spare batteries from previous ones. If I find a laptop I like that's upgradeable, I keep getting the same model second hand every time one has an issue. Always have spare parts then :-) My current laptop isn't very flash but it's fast enough on a core i5 and does at least have upgradeable ram.

Same here except mine was a lenovo with spare batteries that were so big they actually hung out the back. I loved that laptop because it was small, durable, and had a nice little light on the lid that would light up a whole area around the laptop. But sadly something happened to the board. It won't post or do anything. Maybe I should see if I can find another one. Nothing new offered today can really replace it.

Not to mention two boxes full of Eee Pc's and various parts for them. I don't do that any more though - (repair them) - not sure what to do with them all though.

Remember when they all had removable batteries? Jeez, I do. And not too long ago, either... Every laptop I owned had it that way. Up until about 2017 or so. Then they got built-in, but so far, no problems.

Luckily that particular issue never happened to me before. What laptops (that had bad batteries) did that?

It was a year or so after I bought them so I couldn't take them back. I didn't buy new batteries because I figured it would happen again so I got a couple cheap UPS from amazon, so now my laptop batteries are AGM motorcycle batteries lol. The laptops never move anyway. One feeds the TV and the other sits next to my bed.

If you have a Win 10 machine that does not meet Win 11 requirements this is the easiest way I have seen . Worked on my 2014 era HP laptop with an unsupported AMD cpu and no TPM . Worked great with no issues . Gets all the security updates without issue .

How would that make any sense? Add something into an app that already is built into Windows by default?

Just call what's already there, rather than manually orchestrate everything and cause the tool to grow big for no apparent reason.
