Yes I know it's is a cosmic event many of us will never see again, and yes I know people all over the country are going nuts over it, but, I just can't understand the hoopla over the eclipse. And no, I did not buy glasses and have no plans to watch it as I couldn't care less. Guess I'm a grumpy old broad. Even if you won't see it where you live, partake in the poll anyway. I'm trying to figure out why there's so much a fuss being made over it.

Watching the Sun isn't the cool part. It's all the rest of the panorama that's worth seeing.

I saw a total solar eclipse in SF, California in 1979. The whole world seemed to lose it's color.

I really don't know how to describe it.
It was too bright to be night, but too dark to show color.
It was like someone changed the rules.

It was so weird that I could almost understand how ancients thought some monster was eating the sun.
I know it's not a monster, but the feeling during a total solar eclipse is soooo weird.

You kind of feel unsettled during the eclipse, and even though you know why... you don't know why.
Like the Universe just changed all the rules.

Didn't buy glasses; didn't go outside to watch it, even though we were in the direct totality path (and the local news coverage had GREAT pix of the totality AND the crowds who came to Kingston to see it), and kept the pets indoors and closed the blinds and curtains everywhere to keep them unaware. Watching it on TV for a few mins was fine, but there was over three hours of coverage on CBC, and I just didn't need to see fifteen examples of a rare alignment. Enough is too much.

I was able to watch it, it was awesome.

Here is some shots.....But I did not have anything close up unfortunately of when it blacked out the sky. Was unreal.

I had made a quick trip (I thought) to town with expectations of getting back home before it happened. There was so many people parked everywhere I got caught at the pharmacy when it happened. Since I wasn't equipped to watch the whole thing, I did look up during the totality stage. Ghot's right. It was an other worldly experience, a Godly experience.

I don't think this town has ever seen so many outsiders at one time. The girl at the pharmacy said she had talked to people from Utah and Scotland. Dallas had worse visibility so hundreds of them came here too. Cars could not even get around our town square. It was crazy. All for 4 minutes of awesome..
